lawn chairs, lounge chairs, do they blow away....
OK, I have a couple of well worn lawns chairs and a couple of lounge chairs.
The lawn chairs fold up so those will get stashed when I leave camp. The lounge chairs do not fold up. But they do lay flat. They look like this. Do i drop a couple of stakes to anchor these? Sand bags would be easier if they need to be moved around. How do you keep these from blowing away?
I am aware of PlayTech style, lay flat furniture. That's for next year.

I've never had a lawn chair or lounger blow away. The chair might tip over but that's pretty much the extent. We get strong winds but RARELY hurricane strong. You're overthinking this. It'll be fine.
What could be possibly go wrong?

If I'm going to be heading out for awhile, I typically use some clothesline to keep things like that from getting too rambunctious. If it ends up tearing up something in my camp, so be it, but I don't want it causing a problem for my neighbors.

BVB, Exactly what I want to avoid.
Lucky, I didn't see anyone doing anything in any pics/vids, and couldn't find a thread here. So yes, overthinking prompted the question.

I bungee mine to something heavy or staked down.

I feel the same way about not wanting stuff blowing into a neighbors camp, let alone damaging anything in mine. Plan to tie down camp anytime not using stuff. Hope when I do get to the playa that my neighbors feel the same way.

you can decide how to tie it.
Those you could fold flat and tie them to each other maybe to a stake nearby. I do a quick look around before I leave camp, and try to spot things that would likely blow away. I might not tie down things as heavy as those, but you never know. a quick loop of paracord or a bungie anchored to something that's staked down is easy enough for peace of mind. Once you have raced back to your camp to see how it is performing in a big wind, and made adjustments to guy lines etc., you will feel better about leaving. Anything light, anything like paper, or plastic bags, will be blowing down the road in an instant. Don't set anything down without thinking about that. You find out quickly how habitually we expect stuff to stay where we put it.

Yeah tents do the whirly Sky dance, loungers not so much. They're not made out parachute material and are much heavier and have air holes all over them...
But do what you need to do for your peace at mind.

I have seen all kinds of stuff picked up by the wind. Much damage and "wind art" is caused by the dust devils that roam through the city.
I couldn't find the picture of the RV windshield with a camping table/chair embedded in it...
Here is a eplaya thread on wind damage: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=36573

You'll find out soon enough
It probably depends on where they're at. If they're out in the open and not near some kind of structure to help break or block the wind, they could get knocked over or blown a ways in a really fierce dust storm or if they get hit directly by a dust devil. If they're near something, they'll probably be fine.
Once our camp shade is set up (with angled side tarps), we don't usually have any problems with camp chairs or tables.

You'll want to move it around while you're there so don't stake it down directly. Bring a roll of paracord. It's great for 1,000 things.

Never had a lawn chair go but I've had a dust devil blow through camp and bent the heavy duty legs of a large shade structure. Guy wires kept it from going airborne. Last year was particularly windy. We had a heavy 15" dj speaker on our flatbed. The wind blew it from the front to the back and onto the ground.
One day we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny.

Thanks everyone.
I didn't see it spoken about directly and was wondering how everyone else keeps the furniture tied down.
Ropes & bungees already in the RMC.
