Work Weekend April 22-24
We are burners just recently moved to Reno and are interested in the April Work Weekend.
Curious as to what the Work Weekend entails.
Do we camp and where?
When do we show up?
What do we need to bring?
What is the atmosphere?
Any help and/or advice would be appreciated.

I did thanks.
"Typically, folks arrive throughout the night on Friday evening and make camp at our 'to be disclosed' on playa location. We rise early, eat breakfast and head out in teams to MOOP the hot spots for most of the day with a lunch break and dinner in the evening back at camp."
Do we bring our own food and water - I assume we do.
Do we set up a small quick camp or sleep in our SUV.
It gives most of the info I asked about but I was kinda looking for the inside scoop.

Hint: if you say you checked the main site, you're less likely to be sneered at by eplayans protecting the purity of the event.
BTW--thanks for taking this on. It's a gift to the community.

I spent my day yesterday driving to and from the Spring Towm Meeting. WHile there I spoke with Mayfield, the volunteer coordinator about this very topic. I am a Carsonite, a clan very close to the Renoites, and will be attending also.
Show up whenever you can on Friday.
The MOOP Hunter encampment will likely be off the 12 mile exit near the springs. At night, there will be some form of beacon for the weary traveller to home in on. Food WILL BE provided. I forgot to ask about water, so I am bringing 4 gallons. It will be BYOB. Expect burn cans for night illumination. You can pitch a tent or sleep in the SUV. If my 8 man tent is in possession by then, I will set it up as a dry run for BM.. if not, I am sleeping in my VW Bus.
FYI - Harbor Freight - a discount store located in the old K-Mart building at the corner of Kietzke and Peckham has solar powered garder path lighting available at $5.99 a fixture, hand-held magnets with a 16 lb capacity for $2.99, and an aluminum can crusher for $2.99. I bought one of the solar fixtures and it works great - not terribly bright, but effective. Also check out "Twin Cities Surplus" on East 4th St. - while rummaging through their back lot I found a sheet of paper in a page protector witha list of "Playa Essentials" indicating that they are BM friendly. The Mongassa sized outdoor Warehouse at the corner of Moana and Kietzke has soooo many cool extras you could spend hours just saying "oooo... ahhh". Food wise - checkout the Grocery Outlet stores in Carson and Sparks. I picked up a 6 packof curry rice dishes for $2.99 and even found my sleeping bag (Coleman) there for $14.99.
Any other questions re:the Reno area and its resources - feel free to PM me.
Also of note - as of last weekend the Playa was still underwater... Mayfield is aware of this and will be adjusting the wording to reflect "Tentative". Contact him and get your name on the list so they can plan for food logistics.
Iconoclast, out.

Nothing new yet?
The work weekend is a go!
RSVP if you are expecting to be fed.
I was at the Playa tonight on my way home from Jackpot (work related). The top is crusting and after walking a few hundred yards onto the playa, nothing stuck to my shoes.
Look for a road report on the Jungo Road route from Winnemucca to the Black Rock Desert soon.
