newmember signing on ..... 1998 BM VETERAN

Post by ted watkin » Sun May 01, 2005 5:26 pm

Hey it's good to be alive.
1998 changed my life forever.
Been trying to get back ever since.
Almost made it in 2001 but broke down and was
stranded by a mechanic on the way to BM in
Rawlings, WYO
And then the Towers came down and I spent 10 days around Ground Zero Sept 21-30.
Yikes.
Anyone who was there in 1998 may remember (I say MAY remember)
me as.....

Too Tall Ted
I am 6'7", 200 lbs., lean.
Rode a 1987 Honda Magna 750 (Black)
Often accompanied by SPARKY my buddy the Charlie McCarthy Ventriloquist Doll who was dressd in jeans and a sweatshirt, some kinda hat, an earring, and BATMAN slippers.
I am putting out an APB for a MISSING DUMMY right now.
In May of 2003 I had to give Sparky away at a Thrift Store on the North Side of Green Street in Tehachapi, CA.
I have regretted it ever since, but I was convinced that I would not be able to perform again and I wanted him to have a new home somewhere.
Hopefully a safe place, but because CHUCKY ruined it for many ventriloquist dolls (or maybe it was some other reason), most people just want to abuse the dummies.
The abuse was almost constant at BM1998.
You may recall the incident after the Man was burned when......
I was sitting cross-legged in the desert with a lovely woman whose name escapes me (I suffered some memory loss in 2001-2003 and I need help to put the puzzle back together) when she suddenly did a back flip.
COOL!
But she screamed in terror at the same time, so I looked to the South also and I had to do one too (a back flip). Not an easy feat unless you are about to be crushed to death by an Art Car going at lest 10-15 M.P.H. without a spotter and without headlights (probably had head lice). Never stopped, probably never knew that he/she/it/shee-it CRUSHED SPARKY to death.
People ran over thinking we were dead because of the screams and the incredible distance we threw ourselves in a near death adrenaline pumping moment. Somehow I knew I had to bring Sparky back so I yelled to my friend (?) to give CPR while I gave SPARKY mouth-to mouth.
Soon he began to cough, and the lovely woman (she won't speak to me now because I was psychotic from March 2001- June 2003 due to a PROZAC INDUCED PSYCHOSIS and I yelled at her on the phone from a phone booth in Tucson, AZ where I was homeless (living in my VAN ....
NOT DOWN BY THE RIVER< O.K>??????)_THREW SPARKY high in the air to celebrate his coming back from the dead, but she missed him on the landing, so we had to start all over again.....
Later that morning before dawn a man named Ethan and his lovely girlfriend at the time Melissa showed up with a video camera and the ensuing... whatever.... was filmed.
I still have a copy I think.
Pretty wacky.
Also I dressed as Tippy Hedren from "The Birds" with a tan bloody knit dress thingy and a blonde wig and probably cowboy boots and I burst onto the stage at a break in one of those Circus Acts that was there and did my imitation of Tippy in the attic.....
And ......
more later
For those who met me at Burning Man 98'
and knew me as Too Tall Ted
thank you Thank You THANK YOU
I am back from the dead.

Heads up:

As this is not a question, answer, tip, nor trick, this post would be much better suited to the "Introduce Yourself" thread.
