Risks of leaving Reno on Saturday evening and arriving too early?

Post by sparr » Mon May 21, 2018 6:44 pm

There's a car out there somewhere that will the first non-early-arrival car through the gate when it opens on Saturday night / Sunday morning.

What happens to the car immediately ahead of that one in line/traffic?

Does anyone have tips or tricks to share to try to be [closer to] that first car, and not the one ahead of it? I know it's safe to leave Reno at 10PM, and probably safe to leave at 9PM, 8PM, 7PM... But there's little guidance out there on pushing earlier in an attempt to get on site sooner but still after midnight.

Do we know the actual gate opening time yet?

They keep moving those goalposts ...

There is no way to say ahead of time. There could be an accident, gate could shut for wind or dust, there could be a range fire. Follow the @bmtraffic Twitter and take strategic breaks. Having a nice meal at Brunos or shopping at Wadsworth are ideas.

I think someone made some graphs of exodus last year from the Twitter, not sure if they did entry. Not sure of the reliability and load for mobile data service by carrier contract N of Wadsworth. YMMV.

A few years back I was greeting and there we are waiting for the first car in. Lined up doing a chorus line kick. The first car got the full treatment.......Red and blue flashers and a ticket!! Don't be so anxious to be exactly on time.

By the way Sparr, We were talking about you recently in the 2018 Meet & Greet thread.
