cleaning your Kodiak tent

Post by Jas » Mon Jul 30, 2018 2:02 pm

I've got a 10x14 kodiak. I love it. It's great for the playa. The problem is, it fuggin SUCKs to clean out.

Here's how I do it. Any suggestions to help me up my game?

1. Set it back up once off-playa
2. Spray the whole damn thing down with a goddamn hose
3. Spray down exterior with white vinegar + water mixture. BTW, I used this bad boy for the spraying. It works wonders.
4. Rub that good shit in with a massive brush like this one (mine has a longer handle)
5. [repeat steps 2-4 with interior]
6. (the biggest pain in the ass of all) suck out all water from interior with a rented shop vac.
7. let the whole damn thing dry for like a whole a damn day
8. Spot dry any other wet spots, fold it up for next year.

Buy a new tent every year?

With my tent I've just come to accept that it's always going to be imbued with playa and don't bother really cleaning it anymore. The inside is still pretty clean though, mostly because there isn't mesh to allow much dust inside.

Overall though, there is little you can do beyond what you're doing. You could probably fold down the sides or something so that you can just drain the water rather than shop-vac it.
