Does anyone know of a good time-lapse compiling program? I grabbed about 90 shots of the sunrise this morning as the webcam went from black to morning sun. I'd like to think there is something easier to use than photoshop.

macromedia fireworks can batch import a numbered series of images which can then be exported as an animated GIF.

Wow! 3 pages in our little gerlach web cam topic? Seems like a lot of chatter for a camera that rarely changes, but ... wait ... I just saw 2, count em, 2 pickup driving through Gerlach heading towards the playa, and if you watch carefully, you might see the early arrivers for our camp driving our 24' Enterprise rent-a-truck through town on Thursday noonish time frame!

Pretty soon our sleepy little town is going to become a major desert metropolis!

After effects will do it as well, and you can choose how to export the movie (quicktime, gif, etc)...

message me privately if you want some help making it into a movie? I have the program and would be happy to dump the images in and export the movie (it's really easy)

If all goes as planned, any of you poor unfortunates still at their computers late Saturday night can watch a silver Element do a cameo on the G.W.C......

Maybe someone can put on a show for the webcam folks. Go to the park in the afternoon, act out a little pantomime play, entertain the people at home somehow...

Very "Rear Windo" thinking. Great idea.

Then the media will catch wind of it, not realize its a hoax and you'll be the next Natalee Holoway.

Anyone watching the web cam anymore?

Post by callmecrazy » Fri Aug 26, 2005 2:07 pm

Anyone been watching the webcam today? of course this is for those that have not left for the playa already.

It is pretty fun to watch (while doing work of course) people drive by with there cars loaded and such. Really gets the blood going with excitement.

Traffic is deffenitley picken up but keep in mind hunting seasons for Antalope is going on this week. It's been fun to try to tell burners from hunters! BRC is surrounded by some of the most popular hunting grounds in NV.

I also wondered if there were any caches on the Playa but didn't check before I went.

Heh heh heh! You are probably right!
Perhaps a change in the camera angle would prevent further retinal burnings!

Yay! They moved the camera back to the road view again! No more retinal burns!
Thanks!

Well, I am severely disappointed. Wizzard and I played with that webcam ... was probably Friday before the event. We would sit on the bench, wait 15 seconds, then switch places, wait another 15 seconds, switch places again ... we did it a few times and nobody here saw it. Shucks, we were TRYING to entertain you but I guess we were like that tree in the woods thingy.

I saw a couple of people Geekster, I can't remember when it was though. Are you the one who "placed" the BM webcam geocache?

No, I didn't place the geocache. Kristine might have, though. She is an avid geocacher. She even wanted to plant a few travel bugs and brought some with her, not sure if she did or not, I will ask her.

I kick myself that I didn't check the geocaching site before I left to check for caches at BM. I won't make that mistake next year! I would've stopped to log the webcam for sure.
