the weather looks much better today than yesterday! There have been a lot of posts around talking about rain and thunderstorms, but I think it is going to be a GREAT year! The last few weeks look like they have been stellar!
Oh, and it looks like some ugly white pick-up truck has taken tuk-tuk's parking place. Go away, that place is taken, she will be back, I know it.

As is the California Sun. Obviously, there are so many gods that they have to have regionals. Maybe it wasn't a wolf, maybe the sungod's boat got stuck on a river reef while it was running down the nite nile....

August 18th, 2005: Burners Anxiously Await Return of Gerlach Video Feed.
On Tuesday, August 16th, the lights mysteriously went out in Gerlach. The faithful webcam that had been placed atop the burning man headquarter had gone black. Rumors began circulating of angry gods devouring the local sun, others had postulated that the coal driven power plant had gone on line and created a dark cloud obscuring gerlach, while others simply huddled at home, close to loved ones awaiting the day they would finally hear information on the state of Gerlach.
Today, at roughly around 3pm, the lights came back on in Gerlach, anxious well-wishers and burners rushed to thier screens to see the scenes in downtown Gerlach only to notice .... nothing has changed!

That is true! It's a beautiful day! Every day I check in on Gerlach and see that it is sunny and warm makes me a little bit less worried about all these stories of torrential rains and terrible thunderstorms this year!
Here is the update from my friend who is living in Gerlach these days ...
-----------------------------
The weather has been nice. No rain really. It was a bit overcast one day and one day we had some lightning. I think a lot of people expect it to rain, but I don't really think so. I think the rain gods got all of their might out all year. Anyway, I hope not either. Since I have been here, I think that we only had one or two days of heavy rain. It is starting to get cooler at night compared to when I first got here. I wear a sweatshirt at night now, but it ain't too bad.

Here in Reno/Sparks, there is a tinge of Autumn in the air, resulting in a very slight, bittersweet longing when you take a deep lung full.
