Velcro on the Playa

Post by nostratomas » Sat Aug 13, 2005 11:50 am

I was thinking about making a dome & other camp structures entirely of Velcro. It seems as though I have inherited a factory full of it and...

OK that's a lie. I have just purchased a pair of kick-ass, post-apocalyptic, New RocK platform boots and their only means of adjustment is velcro. But now that I have purchased them I am second guessing the hook & loop theory in the playafied environment.

Does anyone have velcro stories/experience? Particular Velcro platform boot experience? Will it withstand the harsh elements of BRC? I know that the playa dust fucks with zippers. Does it require maintenance, perhaps a tooth brush cleaning? Am I totally fucked by Mercury again? Will Lassie get help for Timmy, who is has fallen asleep in the meth lab? How funny does male and or female ejaculation look in Space?

I appreciate your input. I really want these boots to funKtion well as I have invested a bit o' change in them & they look great with my new purple TuTu.

YeeHaa, we are almost there!!!

Velcro is not a problem. Louise and I have used it for years on the playa.

Graphite spray on metal zippers and bike chains.
Velcro works fine. It was designed to withstand moondust. Your boots will never be the same after the Burn. Neither will you, so appreciate their evolution.

I have enjoyed the changes thus far. My boots however are pure virgin.

I qoute a great man, Samo -of this century- who has more than once said, "Burning Man is the best thing that has ever ruined my life."

The exeriences in BRC have forever altered my path. A new greatness is sought in truth, love, the spirit, and above all creativity.

I am stronger for knowing the virtue of one of Dupont's many great inventions.

Cheers to you freaks & may your journey bring you to my bar to share in a dusty livation.

heehee that would look funny in zero-g space. oh the boots... will be awesome! Stomped around in them for a few weeks already though yes? Got to break in those big whompers. Velcro, laces, buckles beat zippers when dirty.
