Yeah, Too hot to go upstairs. I think I'll stay at work where it's cool. I did some decoupage and it came out great.

WooHoo! Guilt art!
Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2013
Wow . . . Guilt Art.
I had never even thought of that as a concept, and yet . . . it's not even foreign, is it? It's just never had a name. Except in German, probably. You know they've got a word for it. If not, the act of deciding that there is--creates the word.
. . . I have now done 3 minutes of research, so you know my word creation is quality:
Schuldkunst.

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2013
You are overlooking one of the hugest art collections in the world. I refer, of course, to the Catholic Church. Sure, some of it is about the joy of serving the lord. But most of it is about guilt, guilt, guilt! (A lot of it is also about gilt, gilt, gilt! It's amazing how little a thin coat of gold only makes an ugly statue look vulgar.) In fact, I think some priests were rated by how much decor they got for their house of god via the confessional...Savannah wrote:Wow . . . Guilt Art.

So, while never to knock the Germans' ability for weird emotional states, there must also be
arte di sensi di colpa.

I tend to do terrible things to religious pieces, but the ones which are must fun to fuck with are the warm and fuzzy Mormon pieces. Unfortunately, since the DI moved, their new sorters and pricers have gone insane and everything is marked higher than retail. WTF?

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2013
They don't put a map on line, at least not a placement map. It's all kinda a surprise when we get there. Although, they do put out a small map, and people put out placement maps based on data that camps publicly reveal...

There is an interesting app that lets you log in your camps position on the map and it automaticaly marks the location of any of your Facebook friends that use it. It will also send a reminder to print it out a week before the burn.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

I went through the registration process but can't access a map. It says one of my friends is on it. Oh well.

When I go to the page and click log in with facebook it displays the map. Might be one of your browser settings.Ratty wrote:I went through the registration process but can't access a map. It says one of my friends is on it. Oh well.

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2013
Just pulled the thrift shop canvases out of the workroom. Several prime Godzilla/monster landscapes, some very odd still life/abstracts which need some help, and one 80s flowery thing I may just leave alone and let the horror speak for itself. I have about 50 small blank canvas boards, half a dozen large stretched canvases, and at least 20 8x10 stretch canvas. Plus a handful of tiny blanks, and some homemade canvas boards. How much can I do in 30 days?
I've been working on a box of art Fishy gave me last year, Larry put it in the garage and just now rediscovered it. Yikes!
Any suggestions? I don't want to cop out and just do a ton of skulls and hearts. although that;s a valid choice too.

Bad art from the thrift store plus decoupage magazine pictures = a masterpiece.

oooh ratty, love the decoupage thrift store art. I think this would be easier for me to do than painting monsters/aliens into the art

Re: Anti M's Home for Wayward Art 2013
AntiM - do you accept ALL forms of art? Even if it has expletives? Made a beautiful (although what some may consider offensive) piece last night. My hubby took one look at it and said - "I love the colors.... But I don't think we should hang it on OUR walls!" - lol! My daughter (she's 8 ) said, "I want to love it but it has THAT word on it. So, I don't know if its OK to love it." Her comment tickled me because that was EXACTLY the response I had hoped it would create when people saw it! So anyway... Expletives a go - or no?
