Mutant vehicle owners and aficionados --

The Playa Heartbeat Project needs you!

This is going to be an amazing event and we would love you to get involved if your keen.

Imagine this: When a human heart is surrounded by rhythmic low frequencies of the right meter, it aligns with the beat. Imagine millions of watts of sonic power playing a simple, steady, bass-laden heartbeat across the playa. Imagine 60,000 hearts beating as one.

Thursday night at 10pm, Burning Man Information Radio 94.5 FM will broadcast a bass-laden heartbeat. Our goal is to get every speaker on the playa to tune in to the heartbeat, and in turn to get every heart on the playa beating in sync.

This project is the first of its kind. It is not a single central event, but an experiment in engaging everyone, connecting the whole playa for five minutes.

Want to get involved?

--If you're a mutant vehicle owner with a sound system, we would love you to sign up to tune in your radio to the hearbeat at 10pm Thursday. You can pledge to broadcast by contacting [email protected]. The project has about 20 art cars and 30 sound camps involved so far. Vehicles will gather near the temple at 10pm for heart-syncing.

---Don't have an art car but still want to be involved? The project is still looking for ambassadors to help distribute radios and get drivers on board. Just email us with "Ambassador" in the subject line and we will send out a detailed transmission with instructions for your assignment on the playa.
