Then we got there and i really had a hard time with it socially. I felt like the whole "welcome home" shit was fake and there was so much exclusion that by the end of the week I was pretty done with it. It was only a couple of months ago that I began to reconsider returning. Now it feels like the playa is calling me back, so we're going to give it another try. But, for me, the VIP exclusiveness is really shitty. People do this all the time in the world and its too bad they feel they need to work so hard to bring it all the way out to BM.

But hey, I'm also ridiculously new to all of this stuff, but who knows... then again, when I brought my Girlfriend, she was invited on any car, anywhere... great to see the looks on faces as I followed her on.
ygmir wrote:right with ya there Ano. being an old single guy, rarely is there a spot for me on the bigger "party barges". Some of the smaller ones are super friendly, but, the big "rave" cars, seem only for sparkle ponies and Frat boys, unless you have an 8 ball and hookers to share.
If you're young, and flirty, and dress in a way that accentuates the boobs. I think the only mv I ever rode in was the Dangling Participle. Or Overcompensation--I'm a little hazy on that. Oh yeah, Playafrog.Ugly Dougly wrote:...I have a feeling that if you had big boobies, they would make room for you.
And I have big boobs.

Re: VIP parties at the burn
You know it's funny. I never had any issues getting on any of the mv's, and I am neither young, nor flirty, nor dressed racily. I'll admit that I have rockin' tits, but of the natural variety. They are balanced out by my not so rockin' fat ass.
But, I didn't try Friday or Saturday nights, and it was usually earlier in the evening. I really thought I'd have a hard time, but in the end it was fine.

Not everyone wants us to turn into just another stop on the rave circuit, this picture sure as hell doesn't change my mind.

No one is to take the above post as any sort of support for bigEXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXy's position.

Re: VIP parties at the burn
I'm going to go ahead and stick a fork in this one and call it done. BIGSEXXY has left the site, at this point I think it's either preaching to the choir or just feeding trolls. Still, there were some good points made, and I encourage any camps considering the idea of public fundraising to read through the thread to get a feel for what people consider to be acceptable/unacceptable.
I'll also point you in the direction of a couple other good links - the Burning Blog post on crowdsourcing and fundraising for art projects by Will Chase, and our own post about fundraising on ePlaya.
