One Fish--Oh Sole Mio
Looks like Apok may not make it next year.
Leaving me, one fish, alone. So, I'm looking for a camp. Of course, I represent a burden--I can't put up my own tent, I'm not clever in the kitchen, and I don't brew beer. Plus, I'm basically a snob, and won't go somewhere without shade. All I offer is a penchant for bad puns and a ----
No, no and, just a penchant for bad puns.
Maybe fish don't belong in the fucking desert anyway.
All reasonable offers considered.

My Dear Ms. Fish,
You have many many friends here on eplaya as well as on playa. Friends do not consider other friends to be a burden. The occasional pain in the ass maybe, but not a burden.
I have a feeling that if Apok does not return to BRC next year then you will have lots of invites from other theme camps.
I am therefor am offering my help in any set up you might need no matter where your camped. Plus my offspring will most surely be there and would love to help too.
It's what most of us here do. Not because we have to but because we want to...

Thank you, Lucky. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Goslar's still ahead--or I could go to Russia itself, my niece has offered to be an interpreter. But it's so good to hear that I'm wanted and loved, instead of feeling like a fucking pawn.

it's funny, Fishy, how we take so much for granted......."loved" as applies to you, here, is a term lacking, but close to accurate. You, are a center piece, admired, feared, beloved and imitated.theCryptofishist wrote:Thank you, Lucky. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

People don't say it much, well, because you are the "omnipotent, omnipresent, Fishy"........
but know this:
there are many, many here who would, and will, pitch in to make sure, where ever you camp, what needs to happen, will happen.

Fishy will be fine . . . it will simply be a matter of sifting through the worthy offers, and finding the right fit.

We have an open and acccepting camp, and as long as I am a member you are always welcome. And I'd rather help someone that needed help setting up camp than someone that tried to manipulate me into helping jut because they were too lazy to do it herself. (sorry, just brought back some bad memories)

Yeah, but how many would hold you and the tears ran from my eyes and the snot ran from my nose as I wailed "But I want my Soviet Camp back!"
It was my 5th camp, and I spent 8 years total in the other 4. And I don't know that I can go through that again. All those years feeling like an outsider, an extra thumb, rolled up underwear that will not straighten out... Finally, I find something that works for me and it's gone, poof!, like that.
I'm too old for this shit.

Yeah and that goes for me too, gosh, we don't speak Russian over here but you would damn sure never have to do a solo ice run from our camp. I truly hope and pretty confidently expect to be near my dear friends as I was this past year, but, even if I come solo I guarantee to provide more help than you would ever want with set up, take down, barge-toting bale-lifting hair washing and drink pouring. And: bacon every morning.Drawingablank wrote:I think this probably sums up what most of us are thinking - but phrased way better than I could do.lucky420 wrote:My Dear Ms. Fish,

Re: One Fish--Oh Sole Mio
Grief is a monster. A monster that chews on our hearts and minds. I've been having the weird skin sensations that I had after Scott died. Not as bad, of course. But the same slightly swimming head, the same frozen numbness, the same staring off into the distance with my inward eye, the same pancake of loss.
(I don't know what the pancake is doing in here. Maybe I needed something absurd for the levity. I'm leaving it in because grief for me is intuitive, not logical. Therefore, I assume that there may actually be a need for a pancake. Or maybe it's all about the bunny.)

Re: One Fish--Oh Sole Mio
Update. I received a communique from one of the older members of Apokiliptika. A rather shocking one, but one that he says expresses the feelings of the entire camp.
Because of the bad feelings the members of Apokiliptika have, specificly toward me and how I ran the camp last year, I have decided (for the good of the camp, and to kill the drama ensuing) to take 2013 off. And I wish them well (and luck) in whatever they decide to do with it.
It's really not that big a deal - I've always tried to do what's best for the camp since it began in 2005. I still feel this way. While it is sad for me to walk away, sometimes ya just gotta do what you gotta do. It's not something I wanted to do, nor is it something I take lightly. But because others want to change it, and apparently without me involved (as I am told), things should (I hope) run far more smoothly for them.
I wish them all luck in this endeavor. Now, onto the future.
