Looking for a Visual Camp to join - lots to contribute

Post by checkbox88 » Sun Jul 14, 2013 6:20 pm

I was planning on going solo, but now I'm thinking for my first visit I'd like to join a camp. I'm very well prepared. Things I have:

2x Industrial Multi-Color Lasers... These things are amazing. And do INSANE visuals and are sure to make your camp stand out and look amazing.
6x Smaller Lasers... great atmosphere for background of the bigger lasers
1x Deep cycle battery and inverter. I'm planning on picking up another before the event.
1x Gas Generator - to charge the battery during the day
2x Projectors for projecting video and/or visuals on a screen.
Lots of misc LED and light strips for decorating.

I have some sound equipment but nothing too crazy. My biggest contribution would be toward visuals.

I am building a hexayurt for myself and will of course bring everything I'd need to accommodate myself. Just looking for some cool people to join who love some psychadellic visual type things.

I'm a 35 year old guy, located in San Jose. I'm a software developer and hobbyist and love tinkering with stuff. If anyone's working on any big projects and would like to pre-plan, hit me up!

Hey Checkbox! :D

You do indeed sound like you have a lot of know-how and fun to offer the right camp. Have a look through the 2013 Theme Camp forum and see if anything looks like your kind of place, and email or send a PM with what you've told us. (Theme Camps don't often go through the Introduce Yourself threads).

Meet your locals if you haven't. Maybe someone has a group that's looking for a light show or interactive whatnot and would love to have you.

I'm giving this a nudge to the 2013 camps board, since that's a better fit for 'seeking camp' posts.

Welcome to ePlaya!
It seems to be my calling to (try to) head off trouble before it starts. (Used to work in the Safety Department.)

So... be advised that there are two kinds of generators, and only one of them is "accepted" in BRC. That would be the Honda EU series and the few other "quiet" units, such as the similar Yamaha. It is a matter of noise. Most other generators are far too noisy. It can be so bad that neighbors-at-their-wits-end have been known to cut spark plug wires and such. Just want you to know.
Looking forward to seeing your stuff!

Hey, I'm part of an enchanted forest/playground camp. We have 2 towers with swings, a giant pine tree to chill in, a dragon tunnel, talking flowers and misc decor. Funny, I actually logged on to get some advice as I was just trying to figure out how to do a forest projection to make our forest look bigger. We were placed at 9 and D. We're based out of Denver, but have campers from all over and can work around distance. If you're still looking for a camp you should email me at saraglade@gmail.com and we can talk about it. :)

We have an "approved" generator and sound chimney if that helps ;)

I'll do the approving, after you bribe me with good Kentucky Bourbon.

Warning. Thread drift in progress.

Hey! What sound equipment do you have? We need some and could potentially get you VJing...

So...speaking of....what would you consider good Kentucky Bourbon....
As for my camp, it's visual, we smell stuff, hearing...the whole works.
