Take a class at Kostume Kult's new Krafting Dome

Post by milqito » Mon Aug 12, 2013 11:49 am

Hi, I'm, Miguel, and I'm a virgin burner. I got involved with Kostume Kult through their events in New York this year, and now I'm camping with them, and I am very very happy about it.

More importantly, I'm here to let people know about Kostume Kult's Krafting Dome.

KK is trying something new this year. In addition to our Kostume Dome, we are setting up a dome just for crafting projects on our frontage (3:15 & Esplanade) equipped with tables, chairs, electricity and some basic crafting supplies. We have four amazing classes lined up for your pleasure and enlightenment, and we'll totally schedule yours in if you have something cool to teach and if we can make it work.

Our current curriculum (which maybe subject to some rescheduling):

Goggle-Nado: Tuesday, 8/27 at 12:00 PM

So we have about a gross of very cool goggles. All of them are either missing rivets that attach the wings or wires or are missing 1 rivet out if the 4 that are the nose strap. These can be fixed with glue guns. Come, we will help you fix them up, make them look even more awesome, and then they're yours!

Makin' Bacon: Wednesday, 8/28 at 12:00 PM

by SuzQ!, Miss BRC ’08

Always left out of the squeeling excitement of BACON!? Vegetarian? Vegan? Kosher?
Under the careful tutelage of SuzQ!, Miss Tress of Ceremonies, Miss BRC 2008, you will KKraft your very own WOODEN BAKKON.
No calories, all of the fiber, devoid of offensive pork products. And…what’s better? Wooden Bakkon Needs NO refrigeration!! Three inches of bacon-y perfection.
Your Bakkon will be hog tied with a piece of swine-twine perfect for display around your neck, on your Camelback, or in your window (once you have a window again).

BYOB (bring your own Bloody Marys)

Oink!

Stick it To Me: Thursday, 8/29 at 12:00 PM

We will be hosting a "Stick It To Me" workshop in the Krafting Dome where we'll be providing body tape and some other adhesives for people to adorn their gorgeous bods with different *stuff* - if you have access to fabric scraps, faux fur scraps, fake flowers, or anything else that you would like to use in your project, and that won't shed moop all over the place, please bring it along.

Headdresses: Friday, 8/30 at 12:00 PM

Adorn yourself like a god/goddess!

Learn how to stitch, glue and pin together your own fabulous crown of glory. Headdresses are usually the first costume piece people notice. They enhance, enchant, even make you taller. Like masks, they are an amazing way to bring out your alter-egos. We will create wicked cool, possibly even comfortable and stable, apparel for what is arguably the most important part of our body (your head...). A crowning piece for the rest of the amazing costumes you'll assemble in the KK dome!

Starting with a base of fabric, hat, mask, even sunglasses, we will use beautiful and sometimes unlikely items to create wearable works of art.

Bring any headbands, bandanas, hats, masks, strips of fabric, ribbons, trimmings, art objects, pins, earrings, jewelery and any other pretty things you think would add to your crowning achievement.

...and if any of you have glue and glue guns, needles and thread, safety pins, please bring those too!

If you're interested in any of these classes, please let me know on this thread or better yet, email [email protected] so we can plan ahead for the right amount of people. Also, bring anything to class that you think will make your project look cooler (and non-moopy), like fake flowers, spandex, and headbands. Also, while we will have some tools on hand, don't be shy about bringing your own.

We're still open to hosting additional classes if there's something cool that you'd like to teach and if we (or you) have the resources to support it. Email me to discuss. We also appreciate volunteers if you think you can or just very much want to help out.

Again, the email address is [email protected].

Lots of love to all of you beautiful people,

Miguel
