Street Name Predictions for 2013

Cargo Cult - Who is John Frum? He is known to us by many names, this Visitor from Elsewhere, dispenser of endless abundance and wielder of mysterious technologies: John Frum, Quetzalcoatl, Osiris, "Bob." His cargo is splendid, his generosity boundless, his motives beyond our understanding. But across the ages and around the world, the stories all agree: one day he will return, bearing great gifts. Our theme this year asks three related questions; who is John Frum, where is he really from, and where, on spaceship Earth, are we all going?

It's not a prediction, that's the name.

They seem to be releasing the names of the streets with each placement notice email. It stands to reason that only the names of the streets within the placement zones would have been disclosed thus far. The name of our street is Biggie something or another. It's hard to remember.

I would pay cash American to see those be the actual street names!

But I'm (technically) grateful that no one would genuinely take me up on it.

The names TG and feralstitches mentioned are correct (the names in the placement email weren't placeholders). I expect an official post to go up by the end of the day today.

Here's how I read it back in the fall. In reading the theme statement, I took cargo cult to not only talk about primitive people whose lives were altered by brief contact with a more advanced civilization, but also the whole notion of worshipping things and our modern day consumer culture. We live in a world where people line up to buy newly released shoes, games, and phones... and where our country faces some pretty serious obesity issues mostly because of our consumer-culture obsession with value. In that light, Biggie-Size kind of fits in with that thinking.

Googled it:

Urban Dictionary: biggie size it

www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term ... 0size%20it

A man who has a penis large enough to fit a magnum condom comfortably with out it sliding off inside of you or tying it up on the side.
