Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
That probably varies by post office. When I lived in Burbank, it seemed like they returned stuff within a day or two. Other places, a week wasn't unreasonable. Talk to your local post office, and ask about having your mail held during that period, and what impact that would have on signature required packages.

Got my tracking number at about noon.
I'm excited to finally make it after wanting to for 11 years.

Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
Welcome. In a few weeks you're going to have this moment where you're going to be thinking, "Hey, I'm going to Burning Man!", and that thought will suddenly turn to "OH SHIT I'M GOING TO BURNING MAN!", followed by a few weeks of panic. This is my third year and I've just hit that panic moment, and I think it's a pretty regular thing. Have fun! You only get your first time once...
I'm still waiting on my shipping e-mail. My parents are going as well, and we are getting our four tickets shipped to the same address. I hope everything goes smoothly.

Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
Oh no, I've been having the "oh shit I'm going" feeling for almost a month now. I was planning gear purchases when I realized that we were 90 days from hitting the road.
My friend and campmate who is also a multi-burn veteran and my carpool buddy alternates between thinking my excitement/panic is cute and insufferable.

Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
I haven't reached the "oh shit" phase yet; it's probably because I'm ticketless (yep, I'm in STEP, been in touch with my regional, ready for OMG, telling everyone I'm looking). I have, however, reached cute and insufferable. A few friends find my enthusiasm charming. Everyone needs something to do (plan for BM) and something to look forward to (go to BM). One of my non-burner friends on the other hand has given TTITD Harry Potter/Lord Voldemort status (i.e. that which shall not be mentioned). I still tweak him anyway. I just give the warning, "you're not going to want to hear this but..." I think he's jealous.Zrob wrote:Oh no, I've been having the "oh shit I'm going" feeling for almost a month now. Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
Received my email!! Time to really kick it into high gear. Don't really have that "OH SHIT!" feeling this year. Have most of what I need, adding a few things. But a lot of my campmates are starting to feel it. So I guess I better help them.

Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
My best "preparing" moment was my first year. The weekend before departure I was packing/organizing, and had the sweeping realization that at that exact moment, there were probably 30,000+ other people doing exactly what I was doing right then... Made me smile and realize I was in the community already even though I hadn't even gone to the event yet.oly14 wrote:I haven't reached the "oh shit" phase yet; it's probably because I'm ticketless (yep, I'm in STEP, been in touch with my regional, ready for OMG, telling everyone I'm looking). Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
I set my phone to chirp when I get an e-mail. Now, whenever it chirps, I get a little excited.

That will get old after a day or two. I'll have to silence it in frustration....heh.

Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
Yes, ticket orders to be shipped will receive an email shipping notice, typically the day they're handed off to USPS (who then issues a tracking number, at least on orders in the US). No need to worry just yet, ticket mailing is expected to continue until mid-July.
Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
My group of three has all received our tickets in the mail. Got the email, and it arrived a day later.
I had to wait a day and go pick it up at the Post Office. The mailman won't come to our door anymore since our ferocious 9 lb poodle chewed on her ankle a little bit. What a pussy!
Now the planning and preparation can begin in it's full fury!

Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
I picked up our tickets at the post office today! USPS doesn't deliver to my house, and I knew they were going to need a signature, so I rushed down to the post office after work and made it 2 minutes before closing
Now I'm at home making lists of all the things we still need for our first burn because now this shit is REAL! I had a crappy day at work and now I feel uplifted and grateful, some things are just meant to be...

Great news all round - congrats to those getting notices and tickets, and have patience to those still waiting. By all accounts the ticket team is making great progress, and are on pace to get all the tickets mailed on schedule.

Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
Thanks for starting this post and providing the info.
Watching all my friends post photos of their tickets on FB was getting me worried and panicked. I went to check my email to make sure I got the order confirmation and buying a ticket wasn't a dream. Yep... there is that email back in February. It seems most of my Cali friends or friends running camps/own art cars got theirs first. But knowing I have until July 15 makes me relax. A little bit.

Re: 2013 Ticket Mailing
Giggle. I got the email that said my ticket is in the mail! YAY! Hoping the boy will answer the dang door when the postman rings the bell to deliver. The tracking number doesn't work, but at least I know it's on it's way! YAY! I am so glad it's coming soon. I leave for OCF on the 6th and I was beginning to get nervous! I know I could notify the post office to hold all my mail, but then I would be worried the whole time it would go missing somehow. This way I will have it stowed in it's special place before I take the trek to Oregon. YAY!
