Seeking one ticket in the LA area

Post by erock502 » Wed Jul 31, 2013 10:43 am

I was slow to get my nerve up and commit to going..... now i can hardly wait but I need a ticket. I have a campspot with the Playa Surfers and have been helping with the Tiki Island which is an amazing art car (bus) lol
I want to find a local ticket seller I live in Pasadena but anywhere in the LA area would be great!
Thanks everyone.

No waaay....we've been dragging our butt posting that we have one for sale. Face value. $380
We live on the west side but work south of downtown. Could meet up near downtown.
The ticket is at Will Call. We'll get it changed over to your name.
Interested?

SWEET! yes I want it! I'm a virgin so I need to ask will it allow me everywhere? my camp is in cargo cult. I see some tickets say cargo cult so it makes wonder if there are separate areas.

You better be a virgin after that...
Please, please, please, read the survival guide and the first-timers guide over and over. This is not what you think it is. It's a camping trip, in a dry, hot, dirty place without running water, and it requires appropriate preparation.

On the map you'll receive at Greeters, there are only shaded Theme Camp Areas, Non-Theme Areas and Walk-In Camping. :) One ticket allows you to camp many places, but if you are without a camp, choose non-theme areas.

Read this thread.

Verify that the ticket # is valid before buying it too.

You can't verify that it's valid. You can only verify that it's not on the list of tickets that have been invalidated...

Fishy was being appropriately snarky since your post indicated you were clueless about the event. Read the First Timers Guide. Then read it again.

Absolutely. All extremely VERY good advice! I agree with it all.
Especially the great information about the shaded area on the maps. I may just need to share that with some friends of mine.

The ticket is yours Erich. Rest easy. I am a 12 year burner and my guy is on his 10th year. We live near Santa Monica. Where are you?

This is a valid ticket. I will arrange to have the name changed on the ticket to yours and you will pick it up from the WILL CALL building on the entrance road into 'Black Rock City'. No forgetting this ticket and having to drive miles back home to get it! Horrible dreams I know we've all had regarding this....

Email me directly at [email protected]
We'll exchange phone numbers there and speak directly.

BUT first you MUST promise to Read in its ENTIRETY the First Timers Guide. Let It Scare You. It's a healthy scare. BE INFORMED and know what to expect. This is not your usual camping trip. It is HARSH. I think I'll test you to see if you've read it too. Be ready.

Didn't you say you have been helping with the Playa Surfers theme camp? Talk to them and see if they allow you to camp within their space. Otherwise, you'll have to follow the great information provided on the other post.

We will be happy to provide you with answers to any of your virgin questions. Over the years we have taken many under our wings. :)

TripleP Tina said "No good news I'm sorry to say. They won't split up my order to put your name on one of my Will Call tickets." I have no doubt she gave it her all.

I just registered for the OMG sale! It took 40 minutes, so I'll just wait and see .

Hi Tina and Andy,

Is the ticket already sold?

I am able to get it asap, and a virgin. My boyfriend has been for 3 years and may be getting a ticket through a friend as a gift. But I am stuck with no ticket just yet.

Please let me know if its still avail. I was confused if the other guy got it.

Thanks!

She's sort of right. Will Call tickets cannot be splintered into smaller sales easily. The name on a whole order may be reassigned, OR they be picked up in the quantity originally ordered and then a person may re-assign tickets to individuals at the box office. This requires the person who ordered them to arrive first, know your legal name, and do as promised. This is best done with trusted friends, because there is nothing forcing them to reassign the ticket when they get there.

This is Erich's thread seeking a ticket. You will want to message Tina directly if you want to purchase her ticket. Please note my reply to Erich about why a level of trust is necessary for buying Will Call. Not everyone is willing to do it that way.

So right Savannah. I was devastated to learn the order couldn't be split. I had done so in years past. The rules seem to change year by year. Growing pains I suppose.

Vanessa,
Unless you are planning to arrive Wednesday night, Aug 28, 2013 or later, I am unable to sell my ticket to you.

An order of two Will Call tickets cannot be re-issued into separate names, per Burning Man Ticket Support. I will be arriving on playa sometime Wednesday afternoon/early evening. I would pick up my ticket and leave the other ticket in your name for when you arrive. But like Savannah said, a level of trust is required. I know you can trust me to do as I say, but that probably is not good enough.

So bummed. :(

New lesson learned for my 13th year (not 12th. yeah, I miscounted) Sure wish the rules would stop changing.

Sorry to hear about your confusion - splitting will call orders has not been possible for more than a decade, and it's specifically mentioned in the readme announcement info I post for all ticket buyers and sellers on each of the ticket boards.
