Of course bigger is better, but remember that large evaporation area is needed, not a large footprint. By going with a vertical evaporator, how much thinner (shallower) can you go? There are a few issues that one must deal with, but that is all in the implementation which can vary widely. If you would like to discuss issues on a design, just PM me, and I will answer. If done correctly, there is not much that can go wrong other than rain, and if it is still warm and breezy, even that can be dealt with. This is simply the way people used to dry their clothes before technology and laziness kept everything in the laundry room.
