How to clean a bike afterwards?

How can a bike stay usable after it returns home from exposure to this year's very dusty playa? I found the following tips:

*Clean the bike as soon as possible, so that the combination of humidity and dust can't rust it.

*Use a vinegar-and-water solution on everything.

*After the vinegar-and-water shower, lubricate all moving parts.

Do they work? What other cleaning will the bicycle need?
