Pack it out!.....ALL the way out!

Post by TomServo » Tue Jul 12, 2011 11:17 pm

While staying at a resort in Alturas, I had a lengthy conversation, with the Resort manager, about the many burners that pass through here. He is intrigued by TTITD, and loves the burners who pass through. But, he gets a little peeved, waking up to mountains of BRC refuge piled by his dumpster.

I've always taken I-80 back home....and every year, I see the same mountains....in the mountains....at Truck Brake Check Areas.

Just because the events over, doesn't mean your responsibility is over.

As much fun as it is to plan your playground, its just as important to plan for your trash. And it can be fun....if you're as bored as I am. I only bring paper plates, cups or personal cups, eliminate excess packaging of food products....whatever. I bring a burn barrel and a steel trash can for ashes.

You don't necessarily have to burn it, but a little extra planning, will reduce your waste, make packing easier and not piss off local communities. I'm sure this issue has been addressed here, but I'm addressing it again.

Plus there's several places along the way out that will take your trash, some for as little as $5.00 per bag, and some like Loves that have a big dumpster just for burner trash and take it for free.

Or you can do like we do, pack it all the way home and put it in our own trash cans.

I know, the airlines get fussy about that.

When the 2011 Survival Guide is available, I'm betting there will be updated info about the best trash resources . . .

Wow AntiM, you may be on to something. If you check your bags of trash and the airline loses them, they will pay you all sorts of expenses and then they'll send a check large enough to cover your admission ticket.
If by some slim chance they don't lose the bags, you can just leave them circulating on the baggage carousel---and go home!

Read beyond the lines. I know you all aren't idiots.

Just don't donate your trash anonymously. Use the payed dumps, If its necessary. Thanks Shambala!

I pack my little bit of trash all the way home (not that it is really all that far) and shove it into the regular home trash pick-up can.

I usually have the all the windows open for the ride home, nasty stuff is double wrapped, and my nose is so jammed up with playa boogers, that if there is any funk, I don't smell it.

I only generate about 3/4 of a black trash bag worth for the week.

For people who have the expertise, working the exodus pulse lines securing loads would be a nice gift.
