Our lead artist, Ricardo Martínez Herrera, has designed some sweet axolotl swag for our backers, so you can rep the project on playa! My personal favorite is the bandana, with the cutest little axolotl print:
A bit more about the project: this luminescent axolotl will measure more than 20 feet long. In the day, its aluminum body casts shadow patterns across the desert earth. Then at night, its massive gills and the entire tail light up in different colors, and the lights react to sounds and music in their environment.

This project is led by Ricardo Martinez Herrera, a Mexican artist living in Belgium, and the build is supported by Luis Varela-Rico, a Mexican-American artist from Las Vegas. They wanted to highlight part of Mexican culture, mythology, and the environment, which is why they chose the endemic axolotl as their subject.
We are so excited to share this sculpture with everyone this summer!! Every little bit helps for the fundraiser. Lots of love from Belgium
