Free workshop on crowdsourcing & fundraising 12/13 SF

Postby trilobyte » Thu Dec 06, 2012 11:57 am

What: Burning Man Project Presents a free workshop – Crowd-sourcing & Fundraising For Artists – led by Will Chase
When: Thursday, December 13th at 6:30 pm Pacific Standard Time
Where: Burning Man Headquarters, 995 Market St at 6th St., 15th Floor, 94103
Why: Because artists are awesome and we love them

Want to create something awe-inspiring and wondering how to cover the costs? If so, this workshop on Crowdsourcing and Fundraising, led by Will Chase, is for you! Any medium- or large-scale art project takes some money to realize the vision … and unless you’re independently wealthy, this will require fundraising of some kind.

Fundraising is easy to overlook or just plain do badly, leaving you holding the bag in the end and potentially in debt. This workshop will cover fundraising strategies, tips and techniques to help you maximize your effort whether you’re looking for help from your immediate community or a broader audience of donors. (Note: this workshop will NOT cover grants or grant-writing. It will instead focus more on on-line crowdsourcing options and similar direct fundraising efforts.)

Afterward, feel free to join the Burning Man Art Lounge social taking place in the Evolution Room – also on the 15th Floor

Please RSVP: workshops@burningmanproject.org if you wish to attend. Attendance is limited to 55.

Want to attend but can’t make it in person? Let us know in your RSVP and we will send you the webcast info. Have a question you want to share? Feel free to email it to willchase@burningman.com before Dec. 13 so we can include it.

I have, hopefully, preregistered. I can't make it to California, so I will need to attend via the web. (And now a local, bicycle workshop has been pushed back to the 12th at 5:30 Central time..., so I don't know if I will be able to attend the entire workshop or not.)

I just figured out I was confused on what day of the week it is, so the bike workshop does NOT conflict with the crowdsourcing workshop! Unemployment is not so hot for keeping track of the day of the week and such.

more to come. the timer on my toaster oven just "pinged" which means I have bbqed chicken to attend to.

That's what fundraising has always been from the start.
