Pretty much any long-time member of the board can tell you that Simon is far from a troll.
Opinionated as fuck? Yes.
Passionate and protective about the Burn to the point of not letting things drop long after they've been beaten to death? Yes.
Troll? Not even close.

I am, however, sorely tempted to split this thread in two: Temple building drama and Mine is bigger

Let's pick sides !!

i totally concur with everything Simon has said in regard to the "temple"

The people I know who behave as if there is a merit badge for their templeing are just burners; as are we all
I do love Simon

And that is a hot photo Dude.

its not about picking sides, it's about people telling other people how to be.

i'm sorry if my way of "observing" the temple doesn't fit with anyone's idealized version of what it should be.

I'm also sorry that EVERY FUCKING YEAR this same stupid argument comes up.

i will offer the branch of peace, i am not about bullying people into submission, unless i feel myself or especially others, being bullied. I apologize for my bluster, Mr Melodious, but yes, eric is right, i do feel strongly about not defining ANYTHING about burning man or trying to control the actions of the participants to suit one particular flavor of burning.

thats what theme camps are for, to explore your little world and share it with others….you want silence at group gatherings? well, that seems a bit unfair, and especially to a longtime burner, kinda pretentious at best.

shushing is a form of intolerance and social bullying.

i won't stand for it, because no one can say what is and is not an appropriate form of "worship" or "Mourning" as long as it does not PHYSICALLY threaten another.

you may be disturbed by someones noise levels, even by the content of their noise, but thats on YOU, baby... you don't like it, walk the other direction, change the channel, say "Om" find your center, whatever.

do not try to control 60,000 spirits and put them in a meditation box because thats how YOU wish it to be.

aint gonna happen.

anyway, to start off this morning fresh, i will offer up this gem to the board……everybody sing along.

one last thing, after re-reading this thread i was doubly convinced of this.

Christian the Jew baited and goaded this on.

Everytime I think about the shushers I think of this scene from Casablanca with the shushers portrayed by the Nazis and the free thinkers portrayed by the French partisans.

I never said they were Nazi's, I said they were portrayed by the Nazi's.
