Looking for a camp around B, C, D, E streets

A group of us (5 people) are looking for a camp to stay with. Kind of like a sub camp. We will supply our own food, water, shade and everything. We just want use of your shower. We don't mind paying a fee for shower usage. We will even use our own water. We just don't want to have to deal with setup or grey water. anyone?? anyone?? anyone??

Couple of things. One, your request is currently impossible. Theme camps won't know where they're being placed until early July. Requests for placement are typically by zone not by proximity to the esplanade with prime real estate going to the more ambitious/interesting/reliable/awesome camps or whatever the placement teams think would work well together.

Two, your request is kind of... hollow. Asking to ride someone's coat tails for real estate and shower privileges already kind of squicks me out. Saying that on top of everything you otherwise don't want to be part of the camp (separate shade, meals, etc) is a major turn off for most camps.

You should be looking to join a camp based on the theme and/or the people in it. This is Burning Man. You're asking to camp with people not booking a reservation in a hotel based on the amenities.

So, you want to shower, but you don't want to build one, and you want to make the mess, but not clean it up?

Your main option is going to be joining a camp that charges dues (starting at $100 and going up to several hundred) that offer the "amenities" that you're looking for. Word to the wise - look at camps & see what you have to offer them, approaching camps and saying you just want to use them for their shower is going to be off-putting for most of the camps that charge lower dues. You generally work more in camp to compensate for lower dues, or you don't get as many amenities. We don't have a list of camps - you can check the "Theme Camp" forum here on ePlaya to see who's looking for members, or you can check the main Burning Man website to look at what camps have been there before & see if one fits your fancy.

Honestly, the dust is everywhere - in your food, drinks, clothes, beds, hair, you might as well get used to it. I haven't bothered to shower other then with wet-wipes since '05. You're going to be dusty again within a few minutes of getting out anyway.

If you guys are going to have 5 people it'd be really easy to have a basic shower setup. It can be as simple as a big plastic bin with some towels stuffed in the bottom to absorb water and a garden sprayer (then hang the towels out in the sun to dry them). You can even get pop-up privacy tents that are meant for camping showers. That whole setup would probably cost you $75 if you bought all of it new, if you have any of it already then it's even cheaper.

Possibly. But maybe you don't post such arrogant stuff, so we don't know for sure.

Joeln, Burning Man only works because most people come in with the mindset that they want to give whatever they can to the event. I don't mean gifting trinkets, I mean helping people out, creating memories and experiences, creating art, etc. The original poster basically came in seeing what he could take away from someone else. If people behaved that way on the playa Burning Man would just be a dusty version of everyday life. Fuck that.

The art, the music, the lasers, the fire, the costumes, the camps, the creations that defy categorization all come about when someone thinks "Man, I would love to share this with someone" or "I bet I could make someone's burn if I did this." It's always about making other people have an unforgettable time.

Coming in saying "What can I get other people to do so I have a good time" is pretty shitty. Make sense?

If you aren't an awful human being the people here are quite nice and usually rather helpful, very few of us bite. But if you aren't willing to put some effort in and try to take care of yourself if not helping take care of others, then at the very least expect to be growled at.

I had a very long day and this comes to mind as far as a place to camp.

Just pony up the big bucks and go plug and play all the way... maybe go a month afterwards, stay in an r.v. and watch the videos. Why be bothered with the other people at all?

Even better--get a projector added to your shower at home. That way you can watch the videos and keep yourself squeaky clean all at once.

You don't need a camp shower. There are truck that drive by every day that provide showers.

Be sure to hydrate a little while you're there

If you're really as lazy as you seem, then you should set up your own camp and bring enough baby wipes. Take them away with you when you leave. Otherwise, read up on how to make your own shower and evaporation pond.
