7:30 Neighborhood Camps

Alright, what camps (registered or otherwise) are planning on camping in the 7ish to 8ish range on the dial? Yes, we realize that theme camp placement is not announced until early July. Tell us about where you're hoping to be placed if you registered, and if you aren't tell us if you and your campmates are aiming for this part of town. This thread is for camps to announce their locations and intentions… tell us who you are, meet your neighbors!
If you're on Facebook and are planning to camp in the 7:30 neighborhood, check out the
7:30 Sector group set up and run by Reverend Bloodshot of the placement team. Reverend Bloodshot, SwAmPy, and Happy will be the placers working with placed theme camps in this part of Black Rock City (though that group, like this thread, is open to all camps aiming for that part of town).

My camp, Eridu Society, will be aiming for the 7:30 neighborhood this year (last year we were in the 9:00 portal). We're something of a time-traveling explorer's club that takes its name from the first city in ancient Sumer, and with members from all over the world. We'll be bringing back our new and improved Ziggurati installation, and changing out the art pieces in the wall displays. Our popular rubber stamp bar will also be returning (with some new stamps), and we'll have a few other surprises in store. Our 'target area' is between 7:30 and 8:00 in the first few streets behind Esplanade, we'll post updates once we hear back from the placement team.

Sweet! My camp is aiming for 8 suburbs so if we land where we think it will be easy to visit your cool looking stuff.

Trilo! I have not made it out to your camp yet, but it looks amazing. Those stacked blocks look like a climbable hangout area, is that what they're for?

Yes, absolutely. The top of the ziggurat has a shaded space and room for lounging and relaxing, as well as taking in the surrounding view.

Retrofrolic is aiming for 7:30 & D or E with more dungeon, more play space, game wheel, cocksucker certification & a mead bar. No slushy drinks this year

just mead. I believe we'll have an advice booth too (or dis advice, abuse, or whatever the person manning it wants to dispense).

Camp Upsie Dasium will be looking for our 5th straight year in the 7:30 neighborhood. Prior to 2010 I spent time in the 9:30 area and the 2:30 area. 7:30 is by far my favorite area and we have so many awesome neighbors!
In 2014 we will build our 3-story wooden tower again (year 6), providing excellent views of our neighborhood and the inner playa. We also offer Shadow Theater at sunset and the Black & While Ball on Wednesday evening. We have clothes for burners and often give BACON to passersby….. Come climb the Tower and with luck, we will also have a steam locomotive train for trips on the playa, loading at Upsie Dasium Station!

Space Cowboys have requested Esplanade frontage between 7:00 and 7:30. We are building a brand new double decker saloon atop our new shipping container. This is Big change from our normal spot on the other side next to death guild. Very hard to tell our chances of getting placed there but fingers are crossed.

Howdy Y'all!
Wish Maker Camp has applied for a 7:30 address. We are a new camp, an offshoot of the lovely Desert Morning (located in the 6 o'clock/Center Camp neighborhood). Our camp is based in Austin TX with members coming from both coasts and TX to participate will all our might.
We will be setting up a craft station for people to create meaningful burnable offerings to take to the temple as well as providing a 'wishing wall' for all passers by to add their ribbon to the wall with their wish. We're also hoping to throw a wedding reception for some members of the city. We have some ideas, energy and the perfect setup for quite the party.
We're excited to be residing in a new neighborhood and look forward to enjoying it together!
Until soon,
Maracuya

A question: is anyone else getting a water tank delivered/refilled on playa?? the place we used last year isn't coming back, and we didn't have the best experience with MECO two years ago (PM me for details). Suggestions??

Nice one - and welcome to the site, SlickJack! Feel free to swing on over to the Greeter's Station and post an introduction if you like, or start a separate thread for Serenity Giant Game Camp. Aside from just planning the essentials of their burn, a lot of folks (newbies and veterans alike) like checking out cool camps to look for on their explorations. The threads on the camps board sort of serve as an expanded version of the camp listings.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL CAMPS SEEKING PLACEMENT IN THE 7:30 SECTOR
I'm excerpting a bit from this week's placement newsletter, which is sent to the camp coordinator contact for all camps who completed placement questionnaires.
Hundreds of you picked 7:30 sector as your first choice of placement location. We are thrilled by the challenge of fitting as many camps as we can into each sector, but I must alert you that not every camp will be able to be in 7:30.
Some of you will discover the joys of other sectors and other parts of Black Rock City. I know you are up for the adventure and we all appreciate your gracious acceptance of moves and shifts through the city.
If your camp would like to come forward and volunteer to move to where you are needed in the city, that would fantastic.
To ease the demands on our friends providing Emergency Services, one of the tasks of the Placement Team is to balance population density throughout the city. We appreciate everyone coming together to help us help them. Thank you all for your contributions and flexibility.
If you are a member (or leader) of a camp looking for placement in the 7:30 neighborhood this year, but you'd be willing to consider a different part of town... start talking about it with your campmates asap! If the consensus is that you'd be willing to consider a different 'hood, then please have the camp's primary contact get in touch with the placement team ASAP. They can do that by sending an email to
[email protected] with the camp name in the subject line of the email.

I actually wouldn't mind it, but we've got some logistics requirements that prevent us from changing our placement request.

Hello all...
Our Camp Glitter and Rust will be shooting for 7:30. This is our first year requesting placement. After 5 years we figured it was time for us to provide a little something or other for those passing by. Our idea is some lawn(dust) games like Badminton and Cornhole(bean bags) as well as an art mural for pictures. The random conversation from either our Dentist, Philosopher, Nudist, Business Major, Handy Man, Burgin, and soulful latino comes with the camp.
We have a few ideas but we will keep it simple as it will be our first year giving a little back.
Hope to see you all there.

RE: 7:30 overload:
On our questionnaire, our camp's first choice was 7:30/Streets,
But our second and third choices were in the 9:00 zone.
Is it worth emailing placement to tell them we're happy with our 2nd or 3rd choice if we're not selected for 7:30, or would the Placement team already be looking at the second and third choices on the Questionnaire?
(We don't want to blast Placement w/ redundant emails if not needed)...Thanks

Campers at *Barbots of SB* agreed that some other criteria and logistics (such as a site in the mid-range of the city, and not super-loud DJ camp neighbors...) were a higher priority for us than only focusing on 7:30, so we told Placement we are flexible with new neighborhoods that might ease the pressure on 7:30. 2nd and 3rd choices, we really like the 8+E areas, and 9 zone is also cool. Why was 6 afraid of 7:30? Because 7:30-8-9. Going to be fantastic no matter where we end up.

Where ever Molly ends up, I'll be there for her liquor pouring prowess... Perhaps we'll end up neighbors again!
