Offer: Camp for one overseas burgin

Anti M's Home for Wayward Art looks like we will have an open spot which we would like to offer to an overseas traveler (or a couple willing to share a smallish tent). No dues, but we do have a few guidelines. Read on and let's see if you would like to camp in our tiny theme camp.

We are a theme camp, but only have five members this year (two couples and an older gentleman). We are located in Hushville, so you must agree to abide by the village rules (no generator, no amplified music, LNT). We do not offer meals or a shower.

What we do offer:
A tent under nice shade with a nice "living room" and access to our kitchen. Bedding provided if requested (sleeping bags and a mat). An empty cooler for you to use as you like. You tent will be on a groundcover, with a large rug in front of it, and you will have a little privacy. Water is negotiable, as is a bike, we can bring either if arranged in advance. We do have solar panels and can recharge small batteries. If you bring a rental car, yes, there is a place to park it. We often have extras of things such as hydration packs and goggles and earplugs, so if you forget things, we probably have it. Mostly, we are an excellent base of exploration. We are not exciting, kinda like camping with your mom and dad.

What we would expect from you:
Read the Survival Guide, and the First Timers Guide. Repeatedly.
You provide your own food and booze. We share, but you should have your own stuff, just in case.
No smoking in camp, please step "outside". (I have asthma). We can give you a pocket ashtray if you need one.
We wake up early, so bring earplugs if you want to sleep in. But we aren't that noisy, just chatty.
Bring baby wipes, we do have a garden sprayer, but no shower. Our evap pan is tiny.
Do not bring overnight guests into camp unexpectedly, it freaks me out to wake up to strangers.
If you use the kitchen, please clean up right away. We have two burners and an oven.
No drugs. We don't care what you do, just don't do it in our living room.

Antim, Whom ever gets to camp with you will be a very lucky foreigner. I've seen your 'space' a couple of times and it's homey, comfortable and welcoming. It has just enough activity going on to be interesting but not overwhelming. (Perfect). I applaud you for offering a space to those who really need it. It's never occurred to me to be that generous. I'm selfish when it comes to my vacation time. I bow to you.

If we have all our "family" there, we are using our resources to the fullest. This year, we have one end of the shade structure to offer, and we always have extra stuff on hand. No problem. It is the fun of having a newbie in camp which we enjoy. In the past we have sponsored people who have become lifelong friends. Others have stayed with us one year, had a great time, but went off in their own directions. Always has been a positive experience.

As long as you promise to call on holidays, visit now and then, and mow my lawn.

I can't help imagining someone leaving an adoptee lashed to the "Home" with an index card in his pocket.

Unfortunately, in my case that card would read "No Deposit / No Return".

I am also amazed this hasn't happened. We have collected horrible large pieces of playa art which we had to demolish to pack out, I stopped one guy from wiring his thrashed clown costume and wig to the home ... he had climbed up to the top crossbar and was using heavy wire; we have ended up with two bikes. One year someone stole our velvet rope and stanchions, although we did find the out on the open playa. I used to set Bucky up nearby, but stopped that after someone stole his white toy goggles. Stupid move, they were useless as dust protection, which is why Bucky was wearing them. We began closing he Home at night after finding beer bottles and condoms on the little table. We now take it down before Burn Night, otherwise it ends up as a trash dump.

Sad about all the weirdness. I love having the dye hut on the street, but the amount of trash and empties I found in it each morning was discouraging.

We put a simple rope across the home and most people respect it. Would that work for you?

I tried a rope across the front, I guess all those chairs and tables look like a great place to stop on the way back to camp from a night out.

Antim, Another thing your camp includes is 30 to 50 friends. Sure, we don't camp with you but we all stop by to see you and the other weird objects de arte. And we will want to meet your charge.

A real sweetie! And yes, darn cute. He's doing graduate work now.

I had one reply, but get the feeling they are going to be banding together with some other newbs from their area. Might throw this open to anyone flying in, or lost eplayans.
