NYC first time Burner looking for camp!

Hey everyone!
I'm a first time burner here in New York City, and am very much interested in joining a camp. I will be flying into the area early, and would be delighted to help anyone set up their camp. (Even if you don't have room for me, I'm always happy to lend a hand). If you happen to be New York based, let me know. I would love to meet up and get to know everyone. Hope to see you all there next month!
Best,
Christina

Sign up for this regional stuff, if you haven't.

You might know this, but you don't necessarily have to be local to the leadership of a theme camp to join one (unless they insist on that, or unless you really wanna rideshare with members of your camp). Shared philosophy can be even more important.

To help set up camp "early"--presuming you mean before the event opens--would take an early entry pass. Those are quite closely controlled, and are not likely to be given out to someone known only for a few weeks.
You may have to figure out a way to help in Reno; do they need people to staff the airport?

Yep, listen to Crypfofishist, the big red flag here is being early.
She's right, without an Early Entry pass, you can't be there before the event officially opens.
You'll want to make plans to hang out in Reno until Sunday.

You can still help. Perhaps you can hang at one of the grocery stores, or camping stores where people are stocking up and help them pack things. You'll me a lot of people there and will almost certainly get some invitations to camps. When you do find a camp, you can get there on Sunday with pizzas from the outside world in those keep warm packs. It's like moving. People will love to eat some pizza.
