The origin of the Bro Party is a heart-warming tale! I'll begin with a quote, overheard in our bar. One Friday morning, an observant Lamplighter expressed the sentiment that:
"The bros are coming."
Being kind-hearted (all Lamplighters are sworn to this), they suggested we provide the fellows with a haven from the harsh desert that was so uninviting to their kind.
Other Lamplighters immediately added their support, pledging to do their best to imitate the nervous and pack-minded bro in dress and mannerism. Maybe - just maybe - if we could simulate their natural environment, those lost and lonely bros, those weekend warriors bereft of a true playa home, could find in us a real-life example of
Poe's Law.
Hilarity ensues.
Disclaimer: It's a parody. Please do not bring actual bros to the Bro party. There will be a test.
... Unless they're from this BRO, in which case I will personally pour you a drink from the top shelf.

How many years until you have to have a Brony party?
If you don't have an answer, can we start a pool?

It'll happen when the potential humor outweighs the guaranteed horror.
But, fer serious, I suppose if they wanted to show off costumes, the Thursday-night cosplay party would be the best fit. Out-of-costume, that'd be the Bro party on Friday afternoon.
Really, the themes are
definitely just guidelines for the music, themed drink, and general atmosphere. Everyone is welcome whenever for a good time. Except during the lamplighting process, when the bar-lounge is closed.

Happy to have you, Caesar!
This year, we'll be having a procession the day Gate opens (first Sunday); we especially need volunteers that day if you're feeling energetic from the start!
Note that last year we were saddened to have to turn away some potential volunteers: we filled up all volunteer spots in <20 minutes every day. So, it wouldn't hurt to come a few minutes before 5pm (4pm Sat). We'll be having a bar party right up until sign-up time.
We're easy to find - huge chapel-tent structure full of lanterns at 5:00-5:30ish in the ring around Center Camp.
