Burner Looking for a camp

Hi, just got my ticket thru the OMG sale so I'm scrambling to put this years burn together. I still need to find some people to camp with. This will be my 8th Burn after a ten year absence from the playa, so i'm starting over from scratch..I have my car and a teepee. Willing to pay my dues and help set up, I should be on the Playa Sunday morning. I could use a little power to light my teepee, and hang some lights inside, but that's it. I have my own food, if someone has a camp kitchen, even better because I haven't picked up a stove yet. Thanks

You might want to go through this forum (2014 Theme Camps) and see if any are still looking for new members. It's a week (or less) before people start heading out, and not all of them are still checking the board regularly. Approach it from the perspective of what you have to offer a camp, not what you need or would like from them, it tends to go over better.

Good luck.

Thanks holier than thou guy. I did mention I'm willing to pay some dues and do some work around the old homestead for inclusion into a groups theme camp. I could just as easily drop the dough on a generator and spectate for the week. I'm making the effort here, to not do that. I know what it means to be a part of a major theme camp. I don't think it's wrong to ask or negotiate that I can get something, very minor I might add, in return.

CaptI, Just WOW. Eric gives you 2 courteous suggestions and you come back with full-blown attitude? Really? THAT is no way to make anyone open their arms and welcome you in. Paying dues and offering to help set up after the gates have opened is such a small part of 'belonging' to a camp.
Read through some of the camp threads and contact them. Contact some of your old playa friends and see where they have landed. You're a veteran burner. Camp alone. Good luck finding the perfect spot. And I mean that. Have a great burn.

I'd like to add that if there are camps looking for campers this late in the game, they aren't reading threads on eplaya. They have more important stuffs going on. Final preps, loading vehicles, etc. You have to look for them. They may not even be reading any but camp emails at this point.

Any camp lead worth their salt would see your response to Eric as a big red flag

Well, we like Eric a lot, and you seemed a bit aggrieved when he gave you completely true advice.

Good luck, & welcome.

butane stove: around 20 bucks ; 16oz bottle of fuel: $11. texport/stansport mess kit/cookpot: $15.
battery/electric led lantern: $15
electrical hook up and shared kitchen facility isn't very minor, unless you always camped with a large organization. Many here have never even had those amenities.
It's late in the game. This isn't the lighten up people time of the year.
Have a great burn. You'll feel great if you pull it together on your own.

Like how light and bubbly you were when you replied to Eric?

Either take your own advice in future or realise that "lighten up" is just a rude and dismissive way of invalidating someone else's opinion.

Which is to say, it's a total dick move.

Ah, I think we now know the real reason you're looking for a camp.
