There are a lot of vets on the board, period.

The Zodi is all I use, it's the shit!!
Not much different from the Japanese model that you're promoting.
Nothing wrong with the Zodi.
If you're using the Zodi you're already in the upper echelon of BRC bathers.

Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

I'm happy to be a bather, upper echelon or not. Just glad to keep the funk factor to a minimum.Jackass wrote: If you're using the Zodi you're already in the upper echelon of BRC bathers.

Since we've thread drifted quite dramatically, I'll keep up the momentum. I just put together a layout of my playa footprint. Everything that is visible in the drawing is done and completed. Now it's a matter of building out showers, evapatron and the associated plumbing.

Okay, you can be the first person to break in the shower! My order of Dr Bronner's bar soap and pump soap will be arriving in the morning, along with the utilikilt.gaminwench wrote:Can I come over for a real shower?

So the half hut on the side of the trailer worked OK?
I couldn't see a reason why it wouldn't, plus give a lot more shade foot print.

Yes and I owe it all to you! You have to wander by and check it out. I owe you a spot in front of a cooler and a nice cold beer to boot.FIGJAM wrote:So the half hut on the side of the trailer worked OK?

I think I went way overboard on hardware. 5/8" stainless full-thread hex bolts, and 3-1/2" x .25" thick aluminum channel adds a lot of weight. I think the trailer will collapse before the hut hardware fails.

I'm low-buck, I do it with an extra freshwater tank out of an old camper and a few 30 gallon plastic barrels from a surplus store, and an electric pump salvaged from an old camper.
I used to haul out my gray water in more old plastic barrels but next time I think I'll build an evapotron. I've always been against evap ponds because they don't work well and leave you with a heavy muddy mess, but I think an evapotron would work. Search it on YouTube, they look pretty damn cool.
The only limit is how much you can make it over the hills after Cedarville with.
Later in the week it's easy to tell which people brought shower water and which hippies didn't!
I've upped my water reserves. Previously I was at 25 gallons or so, now I'm up to 65 gallons. I bought a couple of 15 gallon small barrels, I have the 15 gallons built in to the trailer and I have three 7 gallon portable containers.
I also just finished my evapatron:
There are some things I would do differently if I was to do the evapatron from scratch again, but because it was my first effort I really wanted to follow the directions.
The original design is built for portability, but with respect to the drum that seems to add a weak point. I don't like the 3 piece (two piece shaft and keeper) drum shaft of the original design, so I added 1/8" all-thread spaced evenly in three locations between the two rims making up the drum. This added rigidity but it also means my two rims will need to remain assembled as a drum. I also didn't like the PVC pulley design for the wind generation rim, so I bought a resin pulley drilled a larger hole in it to go over the freewheel hub and then I used a quick release spindle to mount it to the mast. The final improvement I made was going with elastic for the belt versus pantyhose. Oh, and I forget I used copper for my wind vanes versus aluminum cause I wanted to add a little more sparkle.

Re: Gifting Ride To/From PNW to BRC and a Bunk for the Week
Just finished with the shower enclosure:
It's made solely from Bosch extruded aluminum and plexi-glass.

The Zodi water heater/shower will hang off the short Bosch extrusion hanging off the top on the back upper support bracket.

I am a bit concerned about the plexi-glass during strong winds. The weaknesses in this design are
1.) The flat surface area of plexi-glass during strong winds
2.) the front door has three magnetic latches that during strong winds could allow the wind to grab the front door and swing it wildly open, smashing the plexi-glass.
I will work on the small concerns once all the big projects are finished.
The next steps will be to finalize on a shower pan design and the inevitable water purification system, tying in the evapatron. I hope that's the end of the major projects, because I'm beat!

Hi, just did a search and saw our name being used and I just wanted to correct the one thing. Eagle's Nest RV Park is not a resort. We do not claim to be a resort and we have no plans to ever be resort like. We are a nice place to stay for folks who wish to visit the Lava Beds National Monument, and folks who are just driving from one place to another, like snow birds going or returning from wherever they stay. We have grass which requires a lot of work but is worth it I think. Oh, and the reason we bought this place is because it is on the road to BRC. Last year a lot of people came through here and it was a lot of fun. If you wish to stay here you can come in at anytime you want, don't worry about the time, but if it is really late (or early) try and be quite. Thanks
