Art Car Schlep

The task: Remove an art car from our BM-delivered storage container, at our camp, trailer it to Reno for a new engine Wednesday before the event. Then, the next day, pick it up in Reno and trailer it back to our camp in BRC. The art car is built on a golf cart, see photo.
The carrot and ears are removed for storage.
Huge pain in the ass for us out of towners, but maybe no bigee for someone running back and forth to Reno all that week. We have considered doing the work on playa, but what if you need that one extra part....
Thanks,
Michael

I'm sure that there's some reason it isn't the worst idea ever to bring a dead art car to the playa and wait until the last minute to replace the motor.
That's the sort of thing you do in an emergency situation, not as "Plan A"!

I must assume this mutant vehicle is locked in its container, stacked four high, 3000 miles from where the owner lives, leaving him with no possible way to access the car in the off-season.
Mike, I have some knowledge of what happens to vehicles in storage, and I would suggest you look into the possibility of extricating this vehicle a month ahead of time and having the engine replaced and the rest of the vehicle gone over. I might be able to refer you to a Reno mechanic who is also a long time burner and MV owner.
Cool rabbit, by the way!

The logistics of transporting a mutant vehicle are the biggest issue of owning one.
I wouldn't leave that to some stranger from the internet. How did you get it there?
Hmm. I hadn't thought of this in years but the first time I hauled mine I didn't have a trailer big enough but I had a good friend and burner who did (barely). The plan was for him to trailer it, but when we hitched it up it put his half-ton Chevy's back bumper on the ground.
There's a "Rule Number One" about playa prep: cover your own ass. Prepare as though no one else was going to show up.

Reading the original post, it sounds like the mutant vehicle is kept in the camp's BRC-storage shipping container. That's the one that's delivered to the camp site before the start of the event, and picked up at the end of the event, and stored at Black Rock Station (formerly known as the ranch). I'm guessing that the poor lil bunny suffered a breakdown while on the playa last time around, and they didn't have the ability to get it towed off playa and serviced at the end of the event.
@mikeconn - I agree with Elliot - repairs may be more involved than you think. Good luck!

The Art Car Schlep is the dance craze that will be hitting the playa this summer! Move over Gangnam Style!
