I am searching for a ride to and from the burn from southern California for myself and a fellow burner, Vino. He's a video game programmer and mathematician; I'm an evolutionary biologist studying reptiles. We both love ice cream, puns, and road trips - perhaps we'll be enjoying all three with you in the near future!
We have tickets for ourselves and a vehicle pass for your noble steed. We are happy to split gas. If you're comfortable with it, we are also happy to take a turn driving. We can both drive manual transmission.
We can meet you in LA, San Diego, or Inland Empire. We would prefer to meet in person at least once to hash out details of the trip. I have made the drive along 395 to the burn and can offer suggestions for rest stops, camp sites, supply points, and interesting diversions.
We're looking for a ride that heads out on Saturday, 23 August in the morning, stopping near Reno for the evening. Ideally, we'd prefer to leave the playa on Tuesday morning (2 September) so we can help break down our village on Monday - we will be camping with the Lamplighters. Tuesday morning departure should miss the worst of Exodus traffic.
We will have two large duffle bags, plus water. We don't need transport for a shade structure or bikes. We have tickets at Will Call and will be bringing no illegal substances.
Dealbreakers:
- We don't want to do a long haul to the playa without stopping to rest for a night. It's just not safe.
- We prefer not to ride with someone who smokes in their vehicle. It's not you; it's my lungs.
