I'M SUING.

"You know, the first cities by and large were not devoted to commerce, they were ritual centers devoted to the sacred. If you wanted to critique consumerism, you'd call it 'simony,' which is an unhallowed trafficking in sacred things. When the television sells us states of being, that's what it's doing." -- Larry Harvey

Traditionally speaking, the next step is to hammer your 94 feces to the portasquats.

Soon there will be no outsiders left in San Francisco Burning Man, just buyers.

i've taken the liberty of replacing the words "San Francisco" with the words "Burning Man."

It isn't as if Burning Man hasn't seen a tech boom before. Burning Man's dotcom boom of 1998 to 2001 also led to significant displacement in Black Rock. But this latest one is focused on the city and visibly changing it faster. Many long-time Burning Man residents worry not only about being forced out of the city they love, but also that their city is being changed for the worse. Critics say that Burning Man's communities of alternative culture, ethnic or otherwise – the soil of its creative mojo and legendary social movements – are being turned into playgrounds for rich people. If Burning Man's soul is its social and economic diversity and status as a refuge for those outside the mainstream, then it is being lost.

Emerging in its place is the mostly white, male-dominated, monied monoculture of the tech industry and there appears no end in sight.

much has been said, and is yet to be written about the "influx" of "wealth" into burning man.

same old story, really.

its not about the money, but it is about the money.

"TO THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN GIVEN MUCH, MUCH IS TO BE EXPECTED"

give, share with the community, and ALL will benefit.

hide yourselves behind walls of RV's and duplicate the lifestyle of defaultia on the Playa "Because You Can", and you will quickly find out what it means to be "shamed".

Pinemom tells a story that i love, i will attempt to paraphrase.

two villages....on opposite sides of a river... one side fights for the resources available,

the other shares everything.

guess who survives.

tiny rant over... 8)
