Kinda late this year?
Kinda late this year?
last year the theme was announced on Nov 30th, previous years, typically between Decom and Thanksgiving, we're pushing into 2014. Is something amiss?
My guess is it must be related to that nutbag judge trying to put a kibosh on the Pershing County deal, what's your theory?

My theory is that people invent explanations when things don't conform to their wishes or memory, because understanding, or the illusion of understanding, relieves the stress. It's kind of like superstition...

I've been a burner well over a decade and have yet to ever give a shit what the theme is.
I can't even tell you what the theme was about half the times I went.
Maybe Larrry doesn't give a shit either.

Oh, Larry cares. Larry cares because it's a platform for his forced prose. Maybe he doesn't give a shit about the theme itself, but he always treats it like an essay question.Captain Goddammit wrote:Maybe Larrry doesn't give a shit either.

Re: Kinda late this year?
While the theme isn't as important as the event itself, I still think its important. For me it gives a little book mark in my brain to a particular year.
I'm going to be doing the same thing on the playa I have since 2009, running an 80s night club... but... the theme is a great memory device and keeps the years from all blending together IMO. For example last years man base was friggin awesome, the best I've seen in 15 years, and the temple in 2011 was also a standout. So ya, I like the theme because it gives a bit of meaning to every individual year beyond: dust, boobies, art cars and dancing.

Its not about boobies and that other stuff you said?
Anyway, the theme isnt important to me either. Like Capn said, I can hardly remember themes from years past...

There's no "fire" or "explosions" in Theme either, but that doesn't stop them from happening.Simon of the Playa wrote:there's no "i" in Theme.

I think it would be awfully frustrating for those artists who do try to be theme specific.

In 2012, the theme wasn't officially announced until the end of January, after registration for tickets had taken place. And going back before 2006, it was common to not get the art theme until after the beginning of the year.

Welcome to aboard, cap'n.
And no, there wasn't a yearly theme until 1995/1996; I don't know if there were tickets back then to put the theme onto.
Of course, you could count the perennial "burn shit and blow shit up" theme.

Could be, like a waiter watching individual dumbfucks look at a menu, waiting for them to put it down to take the order, holding up everyone at the table, we are all waiting on the theme choice for until after the last of the 2013 Lost Items have been posted by the slowtards.
