hey, i was just interested in the process of the low income tickets coming from someone who has went through the process. when does it open up? is there anyway to be notified? and what are the qualifications?
I want to go to burning man and cant afford it, just want to make sure if its a good idea to wait for low income or try to save.

If you can't afford the time to read the bare minimum on the Burning Man website you may not be ready to go after all.

Hi vpig6! The process is fairly simple. First create a Burner Profile. You can find it on the Burning Man website. if you scroll to the top of the page you'll see 'Burning Man" on the upper left corner of the page. Click on that and it'll take you directly to the BM website.

They haven't announced the date when LI tickets will be taking applications. You can read what they'll want you to do http://tickets.burningman.com/.

There are no dates announced yet for the low income tickets. There is just a limited number of tickets available for low income. Since the low income sale will take place AFTER the regular sale, you may consider saving up now and attempting to get a full price ticket, or yo may not be attending this year.

In most cases, the cost of the ticket is the cheapest part of the adventure. You will need to read the First Timer's Guide to get an idea of what's involved. This is a very harsh environment and you can die here is you are not prepared. http://www.burningman.com/first_timers/

I read in another post that you just turned 21. Have you considered a part time job to raise money for a ticket? It's time to get creative to make your dream come true, and it's not really practical to hold out for a low income ticket if you are able to work to get the $380 needed for the ticket.

Resurrecting a dead thread from last year's event is all fine and good, but since this is a different discussion about a different year's event, I'm splitting it from the old thread, giving it a new title, and putting it in the 2014 Tickets Discussion board, since that's a better fit.

If you spend a minute or two looking over the Ticket Info page linked in my signature and in the 2014 ticketing announcement post, you'll see that the dates are still to be announced. They won't likely be announced until after the individual sale has ended. There is no notification service, if you want to participate in the program you need to be vigilant and check in with the site on a regular basis (as well as subscribe to the JRS newsletter). You should probably be putting in a lot more time with reading and research as well (+1 to 9ah's comment), between the main site and ePlaya there is a ton of useful information, both about ticketing and general event preparation. Generally speaking though, if you have the option of saving the money for a full price ticket between now and when the Individual Sale happens at the end of February, you are not an ideal candidate for the low income program (it's intended for people who couldn't afford it otherwise).
