To buy tickets?
What excuse did you use?
I just told them "Personal Business" and left it at that.

I'm lucky enough (in this case) to have Wednesday/Thursday as my regular weekend because I work in hospitality. I did get a flat tire on my way home from a class this morning though, and didn't make it home until this afternoon. I felt like that was my warning... So I"m waking up next Wednesday, checking to make sure my internet is fully functional and then not even leaving my house until I have two tickets (and hopefully 1 vehicle pass) purchased!

I'm giving this a nudge over to the Tickets Discussion board, since I think that's a better fit.

Sigh.
So I am leaving on Sunday to work a trade show for the start-up company I work for. Initially they said they would order a wifi connection for the booth, but then backed out when they found out it was going to cost $2000 for 3 days of wifi (can you say total freaking rip off?!!). So now, I have to rely on my sweetie to register and login and buy our tickets and vehicle permit.
I hope it goes well.

I am clocking out on the 26th at about 11:30 and I am going to sit in the office at work and order tickets and a vehicle pass. I went in 2011 and that was the only time that I have gone. I was in college in 2012 and couldn't go and in 2013 I was moving and starting a new job. This year I am getting married in July and my beautiful bride and I will be spending our honeymoon at Burning Man! (She will be a virgin Burner this year)
I am so excited. One thing I really like about Burning Man is that it takes preparation to go. You don't just show up. Some times it feels like a battle just to make it happen. Sometimes it just doesn't happen. It totally will this year!

I'm doing the opposite.

I'm not buying tickets, but just finished making arrangements to go spend the day in an office to help Burning Man and the communications team with the sale. They invited me to help out last year, I think it wound up being really helpful, and I'm honored to be asked back.

My kid will likely get sick about an hour before the sale and I will have to pick him up from school. Or maybe I'll be sick in the morning and not make it to work at all. Not sure yet...

I did last year. I don't have to account for annual leave, and I had use or lose, which makes it even less likely that they'd have objected.
Of course, one of my co-workers was able to buy from work. It took four hours, iirc, but she just let the thing go on while she worked.

Was an eight hour ordeal last year. Coffee shop, freeway, then home. Luckily I have a wireless hotspot - paired that with my iPad and was able to be mobile. Replicating same this year.

I took "Family related" leave for Wednesday.
12:00 there is 3:00 here, so I could have just taken a couple of hours, but I'm taking the whole day. Might do a value village run after work the day before, and spend the day working on costumes.

I bought form work last year and had my whole office chip in to watch my computer when I had to pee. This year I am taking a half day but my boss lady is super cool, it was her idea!

Nah, I'll just do it at work. I might've if I they had the early-bird discounts, because mere microseconds count! I was able to snag position #602 in 2011 after a refresh revealed the button and I clicked it.
I will, however, restart my browser a half hour before so that it isn't so laggy, and have my registration ID copied down.

I'm working half day, or a split shift with a long lunch. One or the other.
I requested the day off last year.

Tip for you: clear your cache and cookies before the sale starts. Once into the sale if your code says invalid, email your full name, burner profile name and code to
[email protected] right away. Let them know you started with a clear cache and cookies.

Yeah, well, please remember, Your Lordship, that in america we aren't decadent aristocrats, and most of us don't "have people".

Actually, tamarakay, that's not entirely correct.
If you should see some sort of error once the sale has started, then navigate away from the site (so no browser tabs have that page open), THEN clear your cache, and then go back to the page and try again. Clearing your cache ahead of the sale wouldn't help if you then go back and attempt to enter it again before the floodgates open, and for a lot of browsers clearing the cache still leaves the stuff needed for your current page(s).
I'd caution against being so quick to send in an email to the ticket support team. The more messages they receive, the worse the response time will be. Tickets are likely to sell out within hours, it would be unfortunate to miss out on the sale (or cause others to miss out because the queue got bogged down) because of a problem that can be solved without their help. I'll post a thread on the morning of the sale with tips for success, and we'll keep people updated with additional info throughout the day as necessary.

Well except for all those 1%-of-the-1%, Segway-riding, RV-fortresses-living, Leerjet-arriving, plug-and-play camping, Larry-bankrolling, weekender-tourist, Wallstreet-magnate, other-negative-dashed-adjectived burners who eat up all the tickets. YEAH, THEM!
Then again, they probably don't even bother with this sale.

Yes, I'm leaving work at 1230 (MST,) and arriving home by 1245. I will stay at my computer, trying, retrying, and refreshing over and over again until I get my pair of tickets.
I told my boss the reason I won't be at work from 1230 until an unspecified time (can be half an hour.. can be a few hours,) is because I need to purchase a burning man ticket. Highest priority in my life right now.

I'll be logging in from work but I'm on the east coast. So just need to make sure all work is completed by then.

My computer at work is waaaayy more reliable than the dinosaur I have at home. My boss marked me down as "out" for the afternoon.. Door closed, blinds pulled, fingers crossed!

For those of you who bought in years past, how long does the process take in a worst-case scenario? If I'm at my computer when the sale goes live should I expect to be there long? Trying to figure out if I need to cancel my afternoon client sessions as well...
