We were thinking of showing up for the last 4 days. is that possible? i only see tickets for the whole time, which is fine ill pay but i want to know if its possible for us to show up later in the week and still find a spot and what not. also can i buy someone elses ticket or do they have to purchase it separate?

You can arrive anytime during the week.
You can purchase 2 tickets in your name.
Please read the first timers' guide and the survival guide before you purchase tickets.
IMHO, the last 4 days are not the best part of the experience.

Lots of people come for just the weekend. Worthwhile, but you do miss a lot.
Lots of space. Look at the satellite photos.
Do read what gaminwench recommended.

But, you've got until 12:00 noon PST tomorrow, Sunday Febuary 23rd, to both create a profile AND register for the Individual Sale, which starts (takes place) on Wednesday Febuary 26th.

I don't know I'd totally agree:
the last for and especially for a new person, have the Man burn, Temple, Cores, lots of shennanigans.....yeah, crowded and fully of Ravers, but, to get a real cross section, the last 4 would do it.
To come early as a noob, you don't know where to go. some stuff is not set up or working yet, and, it's a little more "clique-ish", as far as old timers getting together and all.

I'd say, whatever 4 you get, are the perfect ones!!
Do your research, leave you expectations, and just be open......it'll happen.

Not the last four. Whiteout Wednesday is too good to miss. If we want the 4 best it has to be Weds-Sat. The temple burn is great, but if isn't the culmination of a week long burn I think it loses a lot of its impact.

I'd say come in Wednesday morning, set up, explore while the city still has that "early week" feel, enjoy the last big party night before the mood starts to shift, then enjoy the weekend vibe until Saturday. Break camp. Watch the man burn. Leave just before midnight.

I believe the gate closes on Saturday at... noon? So definitely don't come any later than that!

If you can only be there for 4 days, choose, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Those are undisputably the BEST days! You will miss tu-tu Tuesday, but dems da breaks!

my four days would be pre burn thursday, friday saturday sunday leave monday morning. two reasons first pre burn you get to see the city grow which is awesome and you still see a lot of the cool art, just before the crowd gets there. 2nd i could point and laugh at all the fuckos waiting to get in as i leave.

I'd come wed-sat and leave right the burn to skip the ridiculous exit traffic. The burn is just a big fire and while many people will disagree with me, I think it's underwhelming and has nothing to do with why I go to burning man (the awesome people, art, and music).

Whichever four days you come tickets are sold as one size fits all. There is no such thing as a four day pass.

Faira, Do come. There is something very special about EVERY day. Early, midweek or stay late. It's all has more to offer than you'll be able to absorb.

Ygmir, I think the 'Core' burn is a thing of the past. I hope so. I'm not drawn to the flames.

The CORE is not a thing of the past. As was the case in previous years, details will be announced later in the season.

Otherwise, I do agree with Ratty - come whenever you're able. The gates will be open, and your event ticket is good for entry to the event on whichever day you choose (or are able) to arrive. Sure, loads and loads of people will already have arrived and set up their camps, but there will still be room for you on the outer streets.

I've had friends who have only been able to make it out to the event for a single day. They still had the time of their lives and felt they got their money's worth.

there have been times when I came for only a little while
and times when I came early and stayed late

Ya know, I seem to recall reading the same thing in the past, that the gates close prior to the man burn, but that was several years ago. It didn't affect my plans at all so I never gave it a second thought.

operations are changed to mostly exit, but, there is still entry possible. There have been times the gate closes for an hour, for varying reasons, but in general people can come in.

If you show up for the first four days you will miss the epic battle that will be waged on Friday evening. The Alien Siege Machine vs. the forces of Black Rock City.
This is an Event that is not to be missed.......
No matter the outcome, the battle will be glorious!

Gate stays open it's the Will Call that closes (at noon?) on Saturday
