That Burning Man Tickets van

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, I apologize if I'm not.

I've searched through the forum a bit, and haven't found mention of this. Every time I've driven up, at the side of the road just outside of either Empire or Gerlach there's always this van parked with a sign that offers Burning Man tickets. I'm never sure where exactly, as it's usually four in the morning by this point.

Has anyone had any luck with that thing? Are they as shady as they look?

Yeah, I'm getting a little desperate.

While in years past, there may have been people selling tickets on the side of the road but the last 2 years, there have only been people sitting out with ticket wanted signs. There is no such thing as a Burning Man Ticket Van and the cops these days don't like it when you loiter around on the side of the road. I wouldn't go out there with no ticket. The chance of finding one on the way out there is REALLY REALLY slim and you'll just end up getting hassled by the cops.

Word is Gerlach has put up a bunch of No Parking signs, and enforcing the no loitering thing. I would not count on an urban legend selling you a ticket, much less for face. And you'd have no way to check and see if you're buying a voided ticket, or a counterfeit.

DO NOT LEAVE RENO FOR THE PLAYA WITHOUT A TICKET. PERIOD.

There are no "extra" tickets anymore, and anyone legit who's got a last minute ticket to sell will be in their home town, Reno or SF. After the amount of dumbass loiterers last year the local police & sheriffs departments are expected to crack down heavily on anyone without a ticket wandering aimlessly anywhere past the turn into Wadsworth from 80. Ticketless people in the small towns on 447 put a strain on the relationship that Burning Man & Burners have worked years to forge with local communities, and there are still plenty of people out there who would like to see us gone. Don't be one of the people who reinforces negative opinions about the Burn.

I'm cool with following all of this sensible advice.
