So this is pretty late for a 2014 Lost/Found post, but just today I went through some of my burning man stuff and found a bag of items that was left on the Discofish mutant vehicle. We were going to throw it out but I thought it looked like there might be something valuable in there so I hung onto the bag. Anyway, I finally got around to looking at it today and here's what I found. I will mail these items back to whomever claims them and can tell me what other item was in the Camelbak.

A CA driver's license for Bonnie Lyn Doyle, who lives in San Francisco.

iRiver MP3 player

Orange/gray Camelbak

Green/gray Camelbak

I don't know if the two camelbak packs belonged to two friends, or if they are unrelated. Like I said, they were in a garbage bag and almost got thrown out.

Some Burning Man 2014 memorabilia

Pink water bottle, black plastic cup

Turquoise had with colorful weaving on the top.

So tell me a little bit about these items (how big is the iRiver MP3 player, etc.) and I will mail everything back to you at no cost to you. I would want someone to do the same for me :) Sorry it has taken me so long to unpack your stuff. Cheers.

-Keg, from Discofish

The driver's license may be your best hint as to who the owner is. If you call them and they answer the phone, you may have a winner.

Driver's licenses don't have phone numbers in California.
(And why did Sham get that wrong?)
Maybe send a letter to the address, asking for a description of the lost stuff.

I know that phone numbers don't appear on licenses, but calling 411 will get it. (yes, no one does that anymore) 8)

Yes. Send a letter. They'll thank you later. It's not likely you'll find them in 411 but you should try. (Hardly anyone has a land line anymore.)

OMG. I totally forgot about 411. Does that number even work anymore? (I suppose I could just call it and see for myself, but I'm not feeling very radically self reliant at the moment.) OMG OMG OMG Curiosity got the best of me. I called it. OMG a real live operator came on and said 'city and state please' it was really freaky weird. I just said omg you're a real live operator or something like that, got embarrased and hung up.

If you were in Canada, that little hang-up would still cost you over a dollar. Internet 411 is free....

I didn't even think about there being any charge. I guess I'll find out when the bill comes.

Bahaha I laughed out loud at that. Was there giggling? I hope there was giggling!

I'm totally going to try this when I'm in the states next. Phone operators haven't been a thing in Australia since before I was born. I always used to see it on American TV shows and think it was weird.

WOW Telephone operators. Dialing 0. I wonder if that works? 411 and Zero. For some reason, I was actually stunned/shocked/surprised (can't think of the exactly correct adjective to explain how that hit me--hence all the OMGs) It was something that was a part of everyday life and it became obsolete and totally unmissed to the point I had forgotten that they even existed.
