Found - Chinese Dragon's Head

Post by Northshorecowboy » Sun Sep 07, 2014 2:25 pm

Last day at Burning Man, we spotted a Chinese Dragon's Head mounted on a post at someone's camp. Driving into the Grand Sierra on Monday morning, we discovered the same Dragon's Head laying by the side of the entrance road. Only at Burning Man do these crazy things happen, haha.

Not seeing an obvious owner, we left the Dragon's Head with the Grand Sierra Concierge, who put it in plain sight for anyone passing by. Meant to return before our flight home to see if it was claimed, and if not, retrieve it to try EPlaya or a return next year. Sadly, we fell short of time to go back and check.

Did you get your head back? Would love to know.

Hmmmm, I wonder if that was the one from Camp Hate on D & 9:45? That one was very large, maybe two-feet wide and is meant to be worn.

Can you describe the dragon's head? My friend lost something that sounds a bit like it.

(because my friends said I'd Never Never Ever come to Burning Man. RV was an 80s band who's best known song is "Never Say Never")

It might have been the one from D Street. We were camped in that area. Just can't remember exactly where we first saw it. The dragon head definitely is the kind you wear. It wasn't a huge one, but should fit over the head, and then had streamers or cloth (can't recall exactly) flow off the back. Recall it being a fairly round shape that covers the eyes but not the whole face, with no extended nose.

If your friend thinks this might be theirs, they should call the concierge at the Grand Sierra. If someone didn't claim it within the first few days, I suspect the Dragon's Head was moved to a lost & found. It isn't heavy and would probably be fairly cheap to have shipped back.

Wow, that one's beautiful and way more elaborate than the one we found. Same style and approx. size though.

That is a fantastic thrift store find. It should have been in an antique store...
