XYLOVAN's musical mutant vehicle fundraiser

Post by factoid » Wed Mar 19, 2014 11:09 pm

XyloVan, the amazing musical mutant vehicle my family built together (http://xylovan.com), is returning to the playa this summer WITH YOUR HELP.

We've brought XyloVan to Black Rock City three years running (2010 to Kidsville, 2011 as "Janus" with a full DMV permit and 2012 to Swing City (https://www.facebook.com/SwingCityBurningMan) and thousands of people on playa and back in the default world have enjoyed banging on the van.

But XyloVan broke down in Exodus in 2012 (fried electrics and a $1,400 tow to Reno!) and blew a head gasket on the way to Cargo Cult 2013 (memo to self - NEVER break down in Pacoima).

So it's definitely time to give the old beast a new motor and repair the sloppy steering gear - and bring it back with new instruments, lights, sound and a full mutation for 2014.

And that's where you come in. Please watch our video on Indiegogo, consider donating whatever you can - and SHARE THIS LINK!

Besides helping us return to the playa, you'll be sending us back out to delight schoolkids and musical grownups all over the southwest. And we'll reward your generosity with cool perks to the $5, $10 and $35 donors - and hand-crafted jewelry, instruments and SWEET PLAYA PERKS for our biggest patrons.

Give us a hand, and help BRING XYLOVAN HOME!

check in with DMV before you get too carried away spending money. One of the tenets of Mutant Vehicles is that the base vehicle is unrecognizable, and is no longer street legal. It is very obvious that is a Ford Econoline van. Remember every year there are more applications and what worked 2 years ago may not be anywhere near adequately mutated this year.

Oh, we already learned that one the hard way: :P (http://www.xylovan.com/2010/07/whiskey- ... nvitation/)

After that happened in 2010 (the photos above are from that year), we got full day/night DMV permits in 2011 for the"Janus" mutation shown in the photos at bottom here. (More about Janus: http://www.xylovan.com/janus-build-log/)

And in 2014, we'll look a lot more like the small color sketch in my original post above. I'm attaching another sketch here of 2014's design.

Hope that inspires you to watch our video and kick in!

I'm glad you clarified that. My first thought was "It's a van  ".

It looks pretty cool in your last post.
In your wildest dreams you can not imagine the marvelous SURPRISES that await YOU.

Thanks, man.

Now kicking myself for not having included the Janus shots in the original topic (too late to edit) but at least they're here now so everybody can see what we have in store.
