:D
It is too late to change the camp name for this year, but it finally dawned on me that we could be Bikes In The Buff.
Or... we could be if a few more folks realized how comfortable it is to go textile-free in the Black Rock City climate.

Towards that end (pun, yes), we have added campers Ed & Tammy to the camp roster. They are 2nd-year Burners, and Ed is a Bicycle Guy. And both are avid skinny-dippers.

It'll be nice meeting you FlyingMonkey, Madgirl, Wigwam (Thank you for bringing the Patron!), and MFOB! Woopwoop for the KPR Burners! Eastern WA representing!

I'm trying my hand at bacon jam right now.I'm so into cooking right now! Cooking up 3 lbs. of bacon and need to go out for the rest of the ingredients.

Words can't express how happy I am at this very moment! Any donations of Tequila or mixer will be welcome too! :D

Ok so, I think I'll need some rsvp's so I know how much food to make. I have a plan for X amount of people already! I know some will come late due to other things and that's great!

:? Just a quick update....
I'm horribly behind schedule with Preparations, but it will all get done. Camp-mate Ron -- a Burgin -- is helping me get all the Loaner Bicycles ready and loaded. So... he is already learning bicycle repair and learning about MOOP and so forth.
It will all be quite fabulous!

We, on the other hand, are ON schedule. Shipped out our encampment---6 boxes--- via UPS an hour ago. As long as our flight doesn't fall out of the sky next Thursday, well see you EBS folks next Friday

What's "outdone" is that I found/took time to send those out. :?
But I do try to follow thru on what I promise.

So far there are 45 bicycles inside Millicent, with room for more. And then comes the trailer.

In other news.... (before I resume loading Stuff)

The recent JRS brought this information -- and I will emphasize the important part:
NO LEWD OR LASCIVIOUS BEHAVIOR IN PUBLIC. Yes, we know that Black Rock City is a private event and there is a lot of remote unpopulated space within the seven square miles. However, you still need to use common sense and be respectful of others, and the law. We are aware of no law that criminalizes nudity in Black Rock City. However, lewd and lascivious behavior in public is illegal. Again, act responsibly. Also, be aware of your surroundings. Be extremely mindful of families with children who are part of our community.
Nor am I aware of any such law, and I have looked; nor should there be any such law anywhere.

There will be something like 24 of us in camp, with around 10 of us repairing bicycles at various times, and others assisting by offering beverages and whatnot. Hours will be Noon to 6 p.m., with perhaps four of us working at any given time. Plus several "visiting" technicians. How many of us will work in the nude remains to be seen, but certainly at least one!

Well, I never met the man you call Grandfather. I only know that he came to Burning Man with you while he was still able. And I know he is very lucky to have your friendship to help him thru this recuperation.

And when it becomes Grandfather's time to return to the soil ---as we all must, lest there eventually be no soil left -- we shall celebrate his life.

Any preference?

Hello, EBS&PB folks! I'm one of the Birgins this year camping with Elliot and crew. We (husband and I) are starting the trek from Oklahoma next Friday, and just about packed and ready. My nerves are humming with excitement! I can't wait to meet you all in the dust (and bugs).

My playa bike turns five this year, so surely, I'll be visiting you guys at some point in the week.. I've done all I can to keep it alive, but I'm sure there's something I can't figure out that's going to make it implode on me.

Unjon, add me to roster of folks missing you. Now who will lead post-graduate studies in chain repair?
Maryanimal, count us out of Taco shindig>>>>we'll be working Gate at that time. Just ordered 2 sets of head-to-toe bug clothing, due to arrive 12 hours before our flight to Reno. As Muddy Waters sang: "I'm Ready, ready as anybody can be". At least until the next unexpected snafu crops up.....

Please do not take offense, for this is an easy trap to fall into.

But... IF YOU EXPECT YOUR BICYCLE WILL FAIL DURING THE WEEK, DO NOT BRING IT TO BURNING MAN THAT WAY.

Get it fully gone over by a pro. Or buy a new bike.

Bicycle camps are there to solve UNEXPECTED BREAKDOWNS.

I don't necessarily expect it to - but at this point, I've done everything my relatively limited knowledge can, and five years of playa has certainly done something funky to it that a healthy dose of Sheldon Brown can't find. Tightened things here, loosened things there, replaced the tubes and de-inflated them for going over the pass, cleaned and greased it up, never let it sit with dust on it, and I have a spare chain and tubes on hand with the associated tools. No shop that I know of in the Bay will even think about taking a playa bike in for inspection. Sorry for thinking about utilizing the service you advertise! I'll find another camp, then, if something goes awry.

Ano, you have convinced me you have done everything in your power to prevent a breakdown. FOR THIS I SALUTE YOU! And should something still fail... I WOULD BE HONORED TO ASSIST YOU.

Please accept my apology for snapping at you. It was a somewhat general warning on the topic, and ill placed in your case.

Anyone who adheres to the teachings of the late great Sheldon "Preventive Maintenance" Brown is a friend of mine.

Please come by for a cold beverage even if the bike... uh... fails to fail.

Elliot I may bring my own bike by!
I'm so over my head in prep I realized I haven't ever disassembled my Mongoose fat tire bike to grease it.
If I come by, it'll just be for the company, I can do the bike work myself!
All this weekend I will be working to get the Land Yacht final preparations done and get it onto the trailer, gathering what selection of tools I'm bringing, setting up water and fuel tanks, etc.
Ugh. Vacations are too much work. Well, this one is...
