Sherpia
Sherpia
Long before the doom of Atlantis, in what would become the Sahara Desert, a great civilization arose known as Sherpia.
Descendants of Sherpia have known Black Rock City as their home since the year of the Green Man, and in the year of the Rites of Passage an event took place that changed their lives forever.
During exodus that year a young woman ran out in front of their caravan and was nearly killed. She was heavily malnourished, dehydrated, and on the brink of collapse. It was then that they first learned of the masses under the thumb of tyranny, enslaved by contract and coercion. Her story was not unlike others which have now come to light: neverending bartending shifts, countless hours generating electricity on a bicycle, comfort only from cleaning air-conditioned bathrooms.
She made her move Saturday night while The Man burned.
For two days she slowly evaded both the guards sent to capture her and perimeter staff, not knowing the latter could come to her aid. Before her escape she knew nothing of Black Rock City or Burning Man. To her the city was only what could be heard behind, or seen from over, the tops of an RV wall. She knew only the demands of her masters and the desire to be free.
With the recent information concerning not only plug and play camps, but ones who employ such vicious labor practices, we've decided to go public.
Originally a plug and play camp for sparklepony ravers, the first escape was facilitated in the year of Fertility 2.0. Every year since Sherpia has been committed to helping trapped sherpas liberate themselves from unjust plug and play camps, and will forever be a refuge for those willing to escape the wasteful gifting of services to ungrateful tyrants.
Sherpia has no dues, no jobs, is totally plug and play, and will be on playa again for the Carnival of Mirrors, placement or no.

I'm not sure about your plug & play element, but otherwise it sounds like you are making something positive out of a negative. As the saying goes; "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade."

I got to tell you, the unwashed masses, that those air-conditioned porta-potties are the cats meow. I would recommend that all citizens of Black Rock City experience that radical expulsion at least once while on the playa in 2015.Sherpian wrote: ....comfort only from cleaning air-conditioned bathrooms....
Reading this threads lead, at first, I had hoped that some enterprising new Burner had decided to stream-line the process and open a labor pool camp on playa where those of us without off-playa resources to obligatory put-upon workers could pick up the man power needed to erect our visions for the grateful to see. Then it got into the Atlantis talk and it started looking like something the Project would put out, but with a counter facade, like something invented by Sherpa bounty hunters to round up anyone straying from the reservation........ 2015 is gonna be good.

When the only tool you got is a hammer, every problem looks like a hippie.

At first it was a support system for our camp mates across the Mississippi. Over the years it's extended to others, especially virgins. I can assure your they're a lovely bunch. They need to be. Acting like a dick is a great way to get your plug and play status revoked.Elliot wrote:your plug & play element
Legend has it when Sherpian legions laid siege to the city of their arch nemesis, Derpia, hyponists on both sides sent trolls into the battle. Nasty business. Their foul tounges stuck fear into the hearts of all, some even turning on their own ranks! After the war Sherpia decided to leave those creatures alone hoping they would starve off.Trolls

Re: Sherpia
Sherpian, I like your story-telling style.
And I feel that Plug&Play can be a "legitimate" way to burn, for folks from far away, and if done "right" -- that is, the "clients" contribute to the Event. After all, I do a little P&P myself, in that I lend bicycles. (Ah, well, of course, I don't charge anything.)
