Detroit entrepreneur looking for camp
Detroit entrepreneur looking for camp
Hello All.
My name is Evan. I am an entrepreneur from the Detroit area and here are my specs:
5'10"
caucasian
male
blue eyes
brown hair
200 lbs
32
virgo
bearded
first time burner (virgin)
Have been attending DEMF (aka Movement) since it was free
I just found out that the 'Orphan Too' tent is full. Now I am in search of a crew that will accept me as one of their own and take me in. I am not a free-loader whatsoever. I have no problems in contributing to, any and all means necessary. Just let me know what it takes to accompany you and your group, and I will be happy to fulfill the requirements. I am not a slacker. I believe in helping, giving, and doing what is necessary in order to have the best experience possible.
I am not looking for a group whom are virgins as well. ( a little experience would be nice, but not a deal breaker)
I prefer to tent, not RV. (I will bring my tent) Provided shaded overhangs would be ideal, or yurt.
Looking for a group around my age who are like-minded individuals who don't take themselves too seriously.
I will be flying from Detroit to Denver. I can meet you in Denver, or take another flight to Las Vegas, or Reno and meet up with you there. Tell me what is easier for you-I'm easy.
Let's have a conversation, and see if our energy meshes. No commitment necessary until you speak with me. That way, after a long convo, we both have the opportunity to go our separate ways if we don't click--no hard feelings at all. But, if the conversation proves fruitful, we can decide to coordinate plans accordingly.
Upon sharing contact info, I will provide you with a picture of myself so you and your group can decide if I look like a weirdo or not. It is also a helpful resource when attaching a face with a voice over the phone.
Gratitude,
Evan

There's a big group of weirdos that burn shit @ lakes edge, in your regional neck o the woods. Lakes Of Fire they call it, may want to start there and hook up with a regional group or three... or not. My .02
Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

Here is a link to all the regionals in the US. Pick a city you like best (or are closest to).

This is your best bet for making connections and meeting people who would be the best fit for you. Keep an open mind. Younger, older, different interests than you have. Your open mind starts here.

I'm giving this a nudge over to Camps, Art & Activities since that's a better fit for "where do I camp" threads. Welcome to the site, good luck connecting with a camp.

Re: Detroit entrepreneur looking for camp
This is a general rhetorical response, not 100% specific to this post.
Why does every new burner think they have to be in a camp of someone else's?
If you're really so well prepared and not a freeloader why can't you bring your own camp/provisions/shade?
If you just GO to Burning Man you'll find out what camps and people you get along with/fit in with/are interested in.
So many people seem to have gotten the idea it's like a regular vacation resort and you have to book a room at someone's hotel.
It's not like that, and there are countless ways of getting involved that have nothing to do with where or with whom you are camped.
Just go, you'll see.

I like the idea of how "Orphans Too' run their camp. I am looking for something similar-thats all.

I'm going to Movement for the first time this year and am super excited.
FUCK YOU, I'M A WIZARD. FUCK YOU, I'M A SHARK.
Re: Detroit entrepreneur looking for camp
Hi! I was just about to post that I would love to have company! I have way too much gear, am really friendly, and pretty laid back. I went last year, took one friend and hosted two French guys, one of which was awesome. Anyway, I have 4 ez ups, more than a dozen tents, several shade walls and pop ups, several air mattresses, shower, make shift toilet, full kitchen, 8 huge coolers.....you get the idea. I have one friend confirmed going and that's it! By the way I'm Kate, 36, single, mother of one crazy dog, farmer in KS (don't judge I didn't grow up here), occasionally leg shaver, and churro lover. Not sure how this posting thing works, but let me know if you want to chat. And lucky you, I drive though Denver so camp mate or not I can probably give you a lift! Cheers! Kate

Sounds like you guys could be the nucleus for a new camp forming!
That's exactly what we did our first year.

Personally speaking, I doubt I'd go to BM without being with our camp. (Not that I wouldn't be capable--it's just a big part of what makes BM special to me.)

You'll love it! It is one of the few music festivals which is still raw, uncorrupted by corporate greed, and over priced DJ's.Bless wrote:I'm going to Movement for the first time this year and am super excited.
I hope to see you re-charging in the forrest of hammocks. That's where Ill be for most of the day. By sunset, we rage!

I've been to DEMF, now Movement, even displayed art there last year, I do not recall seeing a forest of hammocks on the riverfront.bax man wrote: in the forrest of hammocks.
Re: Detroit entrepreneur looking for camp
Ed, my good man. The hammocks are always able to be utilized for VIP ticket holders only. If you had VIP and did not make your way around the backside of main stage approaching the west side of MOOG stage, then it would be easy to miss. If you stayed on the concrete path, you may have walked right through the trees and not even notice the hammocks.Ed Banks wrote:I've been to DEMF, now Movement, even displayed art there last year, I do not recall seeing a forest of hammocks on the riverfront.bax man wrote: in the forrest of hammocks.
I absolutely love that area for absorbing the trees energy, recharging, and grooving to the main stage vibe.
Are you coming this year?

Re: Detroit entrepreneur looking for camp
Yes sir, i do recall those now. I brought the large steel flowers that were in VIP, kitty corner to that area. They're now installed at the lincoln street art park.
Am not attending this year, I have much work to do on the mutant vehicle I'm bringing out to the playa. My go big or go home mentality, as usual, is proving laborious.

Holy shit! I do remember those huge steel flowers-so pretty.
That is too bad about you not attending this year. For us Detroiter's, you cannot beat the ticket price for 3 days of non-commercialized music. If you do decide on going last minute (VIP tix are still on sale) look me up...I will be in the hammocks re-charging.
