So the, say 59,500 people in line past the first several hundred are just cut out of any chance at STEP? Or do you put all 60,000 that missed tickets in? Most importantly, there is one huge flaw in this idea: it assumes that everyone who entered the Main Sale wants to enter STEP.

Remember: every person who is offered a ticket through STEP has 3 days to respond. Even. If. They. Don't. Want. A. Ticket.
So you would be putting people into STEP with no idea if they want to be there, and those people who don't want one would probably ignore the email since they're not going (at least a healthy percentage would), so those tickets sit for three days, only to go to another person who may or may not want them. Let me give you a real life example of why This Is Bad: last year people who put their tickets into STEP to be sold in the last few weeks weren't guaranteed a sale, even though there were more people in STEP than tickets coming in. Why? Because of the 3-day response time, and people not clicking "no thanks" when they didn't want one.* The ticket offers just sat there, until they rolled over to another person where they just sat. The "line transfer" plan makes this problem endemic to the system. .

My solution to this is to enter your credit card info at time of registration, check off the number of tickets you want in STEP and when it becomes available based on the que - your sale is executed. No more three days waiting period.

Any good news from STEP kids? Tickets or Vehicle passes showing up in your email boxes to purchase?

It's still early. Everyone that has tickets thinks they can use them. I expect to get my step ticket in June. Fingers crossed. Checking my emailbox every day.

The length of time STEP takes makes it hard for us internationals - we really need to start booking holidays and flights soon. Not a complaint just an observation. I'll be there with one friend but I think our other friend will make the decision shortly to give up (he has a place in the STEP queue for 2 tickets). Good new for others in the queue. If his place comes up late in the process I'll encourage him not to take three days to decline the ticket.

Shipsong, There is also a button to leave the STEP queue on your burner profile. (Although that is a drastic measure. Only to be executed if there is NO chance that you will want tickets.)

I think that could also be used for people who were able to obtain a ticket through alternative means.

You may have to wait a month or two. The people that are going to turn in their tickets don't even realize that they are pregnant, their truck is on it's last gasp and the boa constrictor needs intestinal bypass surgery. Late May. Early June.

Yes Ratty,

I agree that is where the majority of tickets are going to come from. But there should be a small percentage that comes from groups of people that were fortunate enough to have bought too many tickets.

Hummmmm. At any given time there are approximately 80 people on eplaya. That's counting Mods and Bots. 75 to 90 percent of those are regulars. More than half of the regulars belong to camps that got their tickets through directed sales. There are less than 100 posts begging for tickets. How many people registered in STEP? 1,000? 10,000? 20,000? It may be a very long time before anyone in this small sampling gets their happy email. I consider myself lucky to have registered within the first few minutes. I'll post when/if I get my tickets. Good luck to all of us in limbo.

Disclaimer...All of these figures were pulled out of thin air or somewhere less desirable.

STEP works just like the rest of the after-market. It depends solely upon people who decide to sell their tickets, and when they make that decision. Historically, most people don't start making those decisions until late May at the earliest.

It's not that "no one" has gotten an email from STEP. They just aren't reporting it here. A few people have reported STEP tickets in the last day or two on the Facebook group.

I think the email from the org about the ticket shipping might have kicked a few people to put tickets into STEP. Once they ship a seller will have to deal with in person sales, and who wants to do that? (hassle).

Still sending good luck vibes to those waiting for a ticket (over half of my camp).

Well, since you put it that way. You made me realize ALL of my camp is waiting on STEP. All 2 of us. But I've got 50 pieces of foam cut and 50 pieces of fur for butt-hurt bike seat covers. Both of my tents are modified and packed. With a smile on my face the prep continues. I check the email like a fiend. One of these days...

Plan B--- Hand out seat covers at the rest stop, dress like a clown, throw playa dust in my hair and spend the week drunk at Circus Circus.

Sigh. I am glad you have a plan B, but I hope plan A comes through!

I wonder if my camp's past ticket karma has finally come to bite us in the ass. This is the first year that we have so few tickets from the main sale. We have had enough tickets for all who could come and even a few more for virgins and last minute friends. I do wonder if there will even be a camp. I have shade and a kitchen, so I am not worried about that, more about where I will camp. Unfortunately with my work situation I may be a "weekender." Bummed about that, but I guess it's really okay. It is what it is.

Some one get Ratty a ticket! This lady needs to go!

I am confused. All I need is 1 vehicle pass, and I tried to register for STEP to get in line for that. But that is not an option. I have my two tickets, but will not be able to use them unless I get a vehicle pass. I am not ready to drive 1000 miles on the hope that I will get one at the gate. Bummer.

Hey everyone,

More news from STEP hopefuls like me? I registered pretty late in the game unfortunately (late May...) - do you think I still have a chance in the next 10 days or should I forget about STEP and place all my hope in the hands of the OMG sale?

Praying to the ticket gods every night. We have a little candle with offerings (mainly consisting of rice krispies and kale) and our 2 year old came up with a super duper cool dance involving a headless playmobil and a magic fairy wand... So far, no luck - we might try Frosties, I heard they're grrrrrreat...

I read that some of you got the good news recently, I'm genuinely happy for you guys! I'll set my ego on the side and won't be jealous. Just impatient!

Any superstitious tip for us, we'll take 'em!

Cheers!

STEP closes July 24th. All of the foreign tickets, (except Canada) are will call tickets. A lot of them will be put into step as the original buyers decide not to come. Keep the faith.
