ReCaptcha 2.0

Post by trilobyte » Thu Mar 17, 2016 12:01 pm

One of the many features we picked up in the site's upgrade is support for Google's ReCaptcha 2.0 system. For the last few years, whenever somebody registers an account or enters the wrong password a few times ePlaya has required you to enter a Captcha code. Years ago we had a really crappy one that spambots were eventually able to crack, and then we switched over to the ReCaptcha system from Google. It did a great job of keeping most of the automated accounts out, but was a pain in the butt to use. My eyesight's not perfect, and I sometimes found myself having to refresh the screen a few times before I got a code I could make out.

I'm really happy to say that now we're able to use the ReCaptcha 2.0 system. Still tricky for automated software, but much easier for humans. Here's what it looks like on the registration screen...

Just put a check in the box and you're good to go!
