Forum "new post" highlighting error
I've noticed that in The Culture>Historical Archives, when there is a new post, "The Culture" will highlight, but subforum "Historical Archives" will not.
Last night, as I was sleeping,
I dreamt--marvelous error!--
that I had a beehive
here inside my heart.
And the golden bees
were making white combs
and sweet honey
from my old failures

Sorry, I think I missed your original post. Seeing it now, I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about.
If you mean that new posts made in the Historical Archives category and subfolders do not show up in the active topics for The Culture category, that is by design. Bbadger had spotted an error, that some of the 2016 boards had not been configured correctly and were showing up in that active topics section... but that was an error that has since been corrected.

Re: Forum "new post" highlighting error
Hmmm... I'll try putting it another way (your reply doesn't necessarily make sense to me either, but I'm sure we'll get there!)
Normally, when there is a new post in a subforum (while I'm logged in, anyway) the post, subforum name, and forum color all turn red instead of blue. For example, once this is posted, I expect the post name, "Eplaya feedback" and "Stuff and Things" will all be red to indicate new stuff.
However, in Historical Archives, when there is a new post, subforum name "Historical Archives" stays blue, while forum "The Culture" turns red.
So, at first glance, I can't tell which subforum the new Culture post is in.
If this is intentional, it sure doesn't make sense to me why.

Re: Forum "new post" highlighting error
You mean the appearance on the index page? Yes, the Historical Archives subforum always shows nothing new on the main index page (it's in blue in the image below)
Once you're looking within The Culture section, it does show in red to indicate unread posts).
I believe that's related to the way that particular category was set up, and I have not had the time to resolve. It's on the radar, and something I'll hopefully get resolved in the fall. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
