Make your own hoops: How to questions

Thanks to XtaG last year I was introduced to hooping for the first time. She took the time to teach me some of the basics and even let me borrow a hoop for a couple of days to become familiar with. I loved it so much that I made a promise to myself that before this year's event I would have my own hoops to practice and play with.

Xta recommended I visit hooping.org to learn more and that site links here for directions on making your own hoops.

I'd bought the materials to make hoops not long after I came home from the playa but 49 weeks later I finally pulled out the tubing, the hot air gun and the connectors and went to work making my first two raw hoops. They turned out just fine but before I move on to taping them I wanted to ask a question:

Do you recommend putting padding on the hoops or do you just tape them up and go?

I wish I had got around to doing this long before now but two weeks of practice beats none. If anyone else has advice on making your own hoops or other mods such as adding LED's or fire that they'd like to share, please post something!

check out the hooping tribe on tribe.net, tons of advice there! ;o)

most people don't do padding.

I usually stay off Tribe but I appreciate the advice, now I can get started with taping.

you think you may be missing out?

Not on the tribe thing of course but the opportunity to get ahead on the hoops?

Example: just because I dont post on the third rock from the eplaya doesn't mean I dont read and learn from it.

Are you talking about hula-hooping? I could do it for hours on end as a child, now I just use them to hold my pants up. : P
