nylon vs brass standoffs for wearable project in playa conditions

Post by stangogh » Tue Jul 17, 2018 8:54 pm

I'm debating if to get nylon or brass standoffs and fasteners for my wearable electronics project I want to build for the playa. Which is recommended / has anyone had experience with either?

I'd rather use nylon as it won't rust but I heard it can melt.

If nylon were to melt, we all be dead.

Perhaps you are confusing nylon with hot-glue.

Hot-glue can soften and get undone in direct sunlight, especially when playa dust is added.

I've made some wearable things from brass bullet shells and they get pretty hot in direct sunlight!

Had a shirt-cocker nap in a chair at the edge of our shade once. When the sun moved and hit his Prince Albert the right way he leapt with pure joy.

Metals do get hot in sunlight. Saunas too are bad juju for jewelry.
