Art car construction
Does anyone have any knowledge to share in regards to extending the clutch, brake and gas pedals?
Re: Art car construction
the question is pretty vague, what part are you trying to extend, the actual levers or the linkage?

Im have a ford ranger. I'm trying to extend all the pedals above the roof line. in essence I want to be able to operate it from the roof. WouId some type knuckle be better for the steering column or should i use a rigid material?

Re: Art car construction
a) bell cranks and pushrods attached to the lower set of pedals extending up to the roof pedal's bell cranks and pushrods
b) actual dual controls with, for instance, another brake master cylinder with hydraulics T-d into the existing one, cables to the throttle actuator, etc...
have a qualified mechanic check over and approve the work (or preferably have a qualified mechanic DO the work, heh), it has to be solid and reliable.

Re: Art car construction
extreme caution on dual master cylinders !!! most brake master cylinders have a port between the reservoir and the piston. the port is open when the pedal is not being pressed. this is to allow the fluid to equalize between the brakes and reservoir. as brakes wear the wheel cylinders need to have more fluid in them so that when you press on the pedal, the brakes actually work. If this port is blocked by not allowing the master cylinder to fully retract the brake pedal may need to be pressed to the floor to stop, or the brakes will talk to each other and alternately grab and release ( had a Pontiac that did this ) If this port is open and there are two master cylinders, pressing on one will push brake fluid into the other reservoir and be ineffective at applying brakes. A mess of check valves may remedy this. Mechanical linkage to one master cylinder is best, or just move the master cylinder to the upper position because you will not have a street legal vehicle anyway ( DMV usually does not grant mutant vehicle licenses to street legal vehicles )

Good point ED, (and Elliot reminded me too, heh), I gave out just enough information to get the guy in trouble...yes a selector valve is needed to close off whichever master cylinder is not being used...and whoever does this ought to know about proper bleeding of lines etc...etc...
